My comment about Jay Z's new album (now leaked for your listening pleasure all over the web) came late on the other rumours section so I'm asking this question...

Is anyone else as disappointed with Hova's new album as me?

I'm feeling the new collabo track 'Success' with Nas and... well... that's about it. Everyone else is claiming this album is a classic and yet I think 99% of the people saying that haven't even heard the full album and are catching vapors just because it is Jay Z.

I'm not a hater, I'm just being real. Even Jordan showed he was human when he tried to make a comeback with the Wizards... he showed the odd moment of brillance but the general consensus is that he should have stayed retired and let the new kids coming up takeover the spotlight.

Jay Z could have learned from Jordan's mistakes. Not only is this album not Reasonable Doubt or the Blueprint... it isn't even Kingdom Come. Damn Hov... what a disappointment!

Rutgers had a bullseye on their jersey this year, because of their success last year. Before last season, teams didn't think twice about rutgers, and they were viewed as almost a filler game. It was like playing Duke in the ACC (in football, of course). But since they surprised everyone last year, now teams go into their preparation week for the scarlet knights and know that they've got to come to play. Unfortunately for Rutgers, they have some holes, and the talent level isn't as high as everyone else's, with a few exceptions. But that will change. Same thing with South Florida. Big time commits weren't signing at either school until last year for Rutgers and this coming year for USF. But both programs are on the come up.

I'm disappointed in Hova's album. I'm not ready to call it a weed tray quite yet, but it's not as good as anticipated. There are some real tight tracks on there. But there are some that make me go "really? you talked this one up? this is a filler at best."

The only argument I guess you could make is that his first job isn't a rapper anymore, so he's not putting as much work in the booth as he should? But then why catch the idea to do an album, and have it in stores within, what, 3 or 4 months tops? Take your time on it, make sure every track is on point. But he got bigger fish to fry I guess...I'ma knock it and skip passed the sorry songs til I get tired of it and by then, I'm sure another new CD will have dropped that I've been waiting for.

But Wu Tang pushed back again so that them and Ghostface's solo joint wouldn't drop on the same day?

With regards to Illseed's in depth comment regarding rappers being set up similarly to Cointelpro, I don't feel that its far fetched at all, especially in T.I.'s case. I remember back when they tried to get TIP for a probation violation around the same time he was financing homes for underprivaleged families. However, I don't think you can fully let T.I. off the hook. I myself have never been a millionaire, and have no idea of the paranoia such fame and finances could have brought T.I. However that paranoia doesn't justify homey rolling around with hella weed and loaded weapons, thats what these "Bodyguards" are for.

So simply put, law enforcement may have lead T.I. to water but it was up to homey whether or not he would drink. Put the guns down, pick the books up, flip that into money, and power your way through.

Oh, I smell a possible 2, 3 part rumor mill today! Yeah, so what Kelis got dropped? Koch will take her or J Records, Clive Davis will do something for her. That last album "Kelis Was Here" was her best in my opinion. As far as T.I., due to his current lavish lifestyle I WOULD HOPE he wouldn't throw it away over illegal weapons, but the "set-up" theory? I don't know about that. I don't think TI was set up. He might be a victim of entrapment but he wasn't set up because he sent somebody to go out and get the guns. I do think he got shitted on for how much he had to pay for bail. $3 mil is fuckin' ridiculous.

I'm not surprised Kelis got dropped from Jive. Jive doesn't know how to handle "urban"(by urban I do mean black) artist. She'll get signed by somebody else, that's more familiar with the "urban"(black) market.

as far as T.I. being set up...i don't put anything past our government. i wouldn't be surprised if they were focusing their efforts on rappers.

and that's the 1st thing i said when i heard about T.I., one word: ENTRAPMENT. i mean that might not be official, but it sure seems like it.

for all we know know the undercover bodyguard could've been all in his ear encouraging/begging/persuading him into it. who are they going to believe a convicted felon or an undercover/informant (not sure which he actually was).

of course i can't be certain but that's just my sense. at the same time, T.I. could very well have just made a bad ass decision, that he's gonna have to pay for.

most 7 time felons know they can't have guns in their possession. but the fact that they are felons kind of requires that they be armed, cause they got enemies. i'm not justifying, i just understand the flawed logic.

it's kind of like a catch 22, but then again, we all have free will and can choose to make life changes that would alleviate our dependence upon guns and bullshit. that is not impossible, but it does require a complete and total life change, which to many feels impossible.

i still don't want to see him do no fucking 20-40 yrs. HELL NAW!

as far the Tupac situation being a hoax, i truly hope it was. but i haven't read no more on it since the 1st story broke. so i really don't know the details all like that.

either way, that was some disrespectful shit. and i don't even understand how it could be considered a hoax. a fucking noose is a fucking noose...around a statue of TUPAC. that's damn near "sacrilegious and blasphemous" (Nas line) LOL. but fa real...

people are dissappointed in Jay-Z for one reason: he set the bar so high. its the same thing every other great set: Kane, G rap, Rakim, Nas, redman, jeezy...lol, the game, kanye, 50 cent. seriously, all the these guys had at least one great album. Jay-Z has classics and lyrically he's better than any commercially viable artist out now, save a nas. Anyway, the bar is so high, he's still competing with his own best.

with that said, i think american G is one of his best. thats my story and im sticking to it.

Remember he was on probation when it all went down, and one of the terms of it was that he could not engage in a physical altercation, for ANY reason. By getting involved in the fight, he broke his probation, and rumor is he's going to get 12-18 months in a juve facility for that. And NO, it does NOT matter if the other charges related to the fight are dropped, the violation will not be dropped b/c it did occur. I understand why Bell got involved in the fight, but still, if it was me in his shoes, knowing I would be in violation of my probation if I got involved, I woulda had one of my boys beat the crap outta the kid for me.

the fellas over here (and jrzeema) with all this sports dialogue...i personally can't relate. now that's the "girl" in me.

but i can relate to the kids & sports. my son 12 and just know he goin to the NFL. he raw, hella quick (not fast, but quick according to him). but imo way 2 little for all that. got more heart than a lil bit tho.

he was playin tackle @ 8 y.o. taking hits and giving em! hella funny cause he was the littlest kid on the team. they thought he wasn't gon' be able to handle it. but that's how it always go, we're a family of underdogs! LMAO

but they saw it soon enough, so they named him "Mini-Me" and they still call him that where ever he goes!

and...

i was dying when homeboy said he threw his Raiders hat in the garbage!!!!!!!!!!!

as far as the Raiders go, hilarious, cause all my folks around here be just so juiced in pre-season, anticipating and all that. but it don't take a minute before they "CAN'T STAND THE BITCH ASS RAIDERS!"

so disappointing. it's no coincidence that they are from the Town and cause so much hopelessness amongst the already hopeless.

but did y'all know that when the Warriors was on they lil winning spree recently, the incidence of murders out here was really dropping. everybody was feeling too good to kill i guess.

i sat there and played old school Atari Centepede on my son's Gameboy...against myself! LOL i gotta build up my skills cause my husband be runnin' me. can't be havin' that.

then my brother (in-law) came thru with his wife & daughter, ain't seen or talked to them in hella months. i was happy to see him/them, finally. and tryna act like i wasn't trippin off the absence. LMAO but i love him waaaaay 2 much! i was really just happy.

i'm glad things are working out for you in regards to the school situation. i'm glad i was able to help out, it's all good.

it's a mental health clinician position. i'm not licensed (as an MFT, still gettin hours) yet and the job is for registered interns working on getting their license. so it would suit me perfect, but it's full time.

which is the part i'm not really feeling: 40 hrs a week in one place????? OMG. but they breaking bread so i'm gonna at least apply, even tho i really wouldn't want to leave either position i have now. but don't get me wrong, i WILL be OUT! but that's why i'm not gettin into it all like that. i just like the power of choice. i'll see what's gon' happen.

never came up on the teaching job after all. they just got me on file if they start recruiting more instructors. but at this point that might've been a good thing.

That being said. He's a prima donna. He's a 'ME' player, who says he's a team player. He has a problem of coming up short in the playoffs, but that HAS to turn around at some point. He finally got it this year. He stopped caring so much about his image, and just played ball. Then, once the season was over, it was back on ME time.

Would I want him on my team? Hell yea. You can't deny those numbers. If he was on the Devil Rays they would start selling out games. He just needs to shake the playoff drought, which you figure he's got to do eventually. You dont want to be on the other end when he does, because once he shakes it, there will be no stopping him at all.

I think T.I. should go to jail. He's a convicted felon, several times over. In most, if not all, states, including Georgia, you can't own a fire arm if you're a convicted felon.

He's the one who showed up to pick up the guns, paid for them, had a gun closet protected by finger print scanner entry. What kind of arsenal of weapons you got that you need a finger print scanner to protect? Especially of unregistered weapons.

You just like guns that much? Yea? Well, you shouldn't have gotten locked up before and you could go and buy them legally.

Besides, he's a RAPPER. What kind of activities does a RAPPER get involved in, where he needs a silencer? Or machine guns?

As far as Bush, he's got diplomatic immunity, so he CAN'T go to jail for any of that stuff. It sucks, because he's done some foul shit and should be punished for it. He's done a lot more harm than he has helped this country.

Now, why wouldn't we impeach him? I don't know how long the actual process would take, but I can't imagine it would be a 2 week kind of thing. So let's say it takes 90 days. Either way, you get him out of office and you get Dick Cheney to run the country for the rest of the term. And he's REALLY about that money. Even more than Bush is.

But anyways, let's say we get Bush out, and Cheney takes over. He does something remotely constructive in the short time he's in office. That sets up whoever he's supporting in the Presidential race to win. You know he's not supporting the person who's looking to improve health care for the kids, or the poor. He's looking to support the person who's going to stay at war, because he's stacking so much money off it, his great grand kid's great grand kids will never have to work.

So I think we, as a country, chalk it up as an L, realize he's got about 14 months left in office, and he can't possibly fuck up any worse than he already has. What's he gonna do, start ANOTHER war?

It just sucks for whoever comes in behind them, because even if they are well intentioned, they have this giant mound of shit to clean up before they can even start with the tasks they want to perform.
