Word came out a year ago that he was gonna be in a game sorta like Midnight Club: Dub Edition, only where your driver is either Game or some other dudes, and its through hoods like Compton, BK, and all that instead of Detroit and Atlanta & Miami like Dubb edition. jay z & frank lucas... I see the resemblance. I don't think cast him would have been in the best interest of the movie but it might have worked. far as him not being able to be apart if the soundtrack definitely not even if he played frank lucas cause to me it kind of cheapenz the nostalgic feel the movie haz causes chances are they would be some playing of the songz during the movie. I like it the way they did wit the music mostly from that era (that ninja anthony hamilton waz jammin in the club scene) hopefully the soundtrack will resemble the score for the movie.

Concerning the cats who got screwed over concerning the track it is definitely a learning experience, and the music business is worse than the drug business. This is not about chasing dreams, it is always about money. Don't invest all that money in a song just because some big name producer slide you a track. They are not going to put it in writing with you if you're not a big name so all you can copyright is your lyrics, they still own the beat, especially if you didn't even pay for exclusive rights to the track. That was their fault for being giddy about it.

Make a decent demo and test the waters with it. As an artist you have to learn to balance the two because if you don't you will certainly get fucked. I saved a lot of money by setting up my own studio. If you know what you're doing from an engineering point of view you can make a profession quality song without spending too much money on studio time. It doesn't have to be perfect, listen to the music out now like Soulja Boy, and Plies.

I have turned down selling some of my tracks to people because I decided to use them myself or I felt like they were too damn wack to waste my material on them. In many ways a hot track to a well established artist can break you through, sometimes it can hold you back. I've been involved with music since I was 8, learned how to play the keyboard. But music is always something I'd do even if I wasn't making it for the public.

You have to be firm with these industry people because most of them don't believe in you as much as you need to believe in yourself. They will have you thinking you should pay them to be associated with them when they really make their money by siphoning off talented unknown people on the slick. If you're not a multi-platinum artist yet or a super producer they will try to play you. Remember what Jay said on the Black album, "when you first come in the game they try to play you, after you make a couple of hits, look how they wave to you". Peep game.

Damn thats crazy, I DVR'd the Frank Lucas A.G. from BET and watched it last night and the whole time I was thinkin Damn he resembles Jay-Z. That Rza interview should be required Hiphop 101 viewing.

The more interviews I see with Rza, the more he impresses me. He is one of the few still representing true hiphop culture to the fullest. Still spittin' dope freestyles in 2007 (did you see his gully freestyle outside of the Hiphop Chess Competition? **which he also came in first place in on the chess boards). Not to mention his ill production both with Wu, up and coming artists, as well as major motion picture soundtracks.

Rather than wasting his money on the most expensive chain or the most expensive car, he took a gamble on technology 10 years that is now changing the whole hiphop game with realtime scratching and producing. He is even honest about how he got jacked out of $2 million from greedy partners and the might of big corporations who have bottomless pockets.

How many rappers would admit that back in 1997 their company was worth $25 million and rising but nowadays their company is only worth about $10 million so they had to become more fiscally conservative in order to support their family and the artists who count on them for financial support.

I had to laugh when Rza said that he didn't have the $300 a pop to copywrite the realtime scratch invention in all "1000" countries around the world. I know dude was exaggerating but it probably felt like there was that many countries to pay out at the time with all the hands in his pocket looking for money.

That video should be a cautionary tale for up and coming artists about playing the "corporate" game.

Support REAL hiphop and cop that Wu album... and I mean pay for it legally to show the industry that we support artists like Rza who actually try to give something back to the hiphop culture by putting their money where their mouth is...

Co-sign. I've been taking a beating over in Jay Z's 'American Gangster' album review section for saying the exact same thing.

Jay Z keeps declaring himself the "muthaf**king greatest" but he has been pretty suspect as being able to claim that title for the last 5 years or so.

I was never feeling that "Hawaiian Sophie" track with Jaz-O back in the day but he did win my respect with all those freestyles he used to do around that same era with Biggie, Kane and Big L. I wish these young heads on here were around when Jigga was young and hungry to see what a beast he was...

Honestly, I think putting Nas on that 'Success' track (also the ONE track on the album that let's me hold out hope for Jigga) made Jay step his game up to where it should have been throughout the whole 'American Gangster' album.

He sounds bored and lazy on the rest of the tracks, to be honest. You riders know what I'm saying is true but criticizing Jay Z is somehow forbidden like dude is above making a mediocre album. But like I said before... $500 million buys a lot of marketing and promotion (and unflinching support).

ay so i been thinkin on this for a min now...

i really be coming to a lot of awarenesses about people, in general, since i been coming on here.

in some ways, people's perspectives of things on here has a greater impact on my awareness than the impact of people in other areas of my life.

i think the fact that we are technically strangers, while still a "family" of sorts, allows me to be unbiased in understanding what people mean. the fact that many of us may feel less inhibited and even more vocal and opinionated, allows me to understand things from a different perspective, regardless of my own opinion.

one example is when we had a discussion on the N word and other groups using the word, hellllla long ago now.

another is when those horrendous (LOL) pics of Fantasia were forced upon us, which is where i am kinda going with this.

and yesterday, when the bio and pics of Da Brat's alleged victim were posted.

i found it such a trip that sooooo many men thought Fantasia looked alright and claimed to like a woman with some extra meat on her. i never would have thought that! i mean i know men like thickness, but i had always considered that to be in referrence to ladies looking like Pres' avi pics, not ladies lookin like Fantasia (who i deemed sloppy-looking, outta shape, etc.)

then yesterday the pics of the girl Da Brat supposedly smashed a bottle on, many of the guys found not too attractive (too skinny, not too pretty in the face, too many teeth (LOL)). i found her to be pretty, with a perfectly in shape body. so i was surprised that she wasn't considered "all that." it made me go: hmmmm.

i guess i don't get it but at the same time the greater point is that women and men have 2 divergent perspectives on certain things, of course. and body image appears to be one of them.

i mean women are hard on themselves, tryna live up to the fallacy of perfection. which is def. not possible but we beat ourselves up tryin to anyway. when i see that from a man's perspective, it's not that serious (to most men). of course i've heard that a million times before from men i know. but it seemed different to hear automatic reactions from men.

seems like many men like the imperfections (or at least tolerate them idk which) that we saw in Fantasia. then again, it seems like many men rejected the cheerleader, lil miss perfect look that the other girl had. i don't get it but would love to understand. i mean i could see if it was like, "yeah Fantasia looking chicks is cool, i like the extra body. but them cheerleader looking chicks is hella fine." which is what most females have been taught to believe.

can anyone explain this situation? ladies too, what do u think it's all about?

cause i know that women tend to see themselves not really the way people see them externally.

I'd have to say i'm more of a Jay fan but I give Nas his respect too..I think both of them had commercial albums though..My favorite Nas albums are Illmatic and the Lost Tapes..My favorites from Jay are Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint1 and the Black Album..I'd still take Rakim in his prime over both..

Yea, I read it..So, you honestly think Odom has a chance of being as good as Shaq..Everytime I look at him play I think of a young Dikembe..I don't think he's nearly as talented as Durant..I think Al Horsford and Jeff Greene will have better NBA careers than Odom..He can't sleep up under the basket and we won't overpower the guys in the NBA the way he did in college..I don't see him averaging more than 16 points and 12 rebounds a game..Marcus Camby, Chris Wilcox, Elton Brand, Shawn Marion, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire and the list could go on and one will get you the same thing..Honestly, do you think Oden will be better than any of the players I just mentioned? he probably wont be as good as Shaq, but he also doesn't weigh 350 pounds. He's like Shaq when he first came in the league, except Oden's got more of a finesse game than the Diesel did, and does. He's got a hook shot he can make with both hands. He's quick with the ball, meaning he gets it, makes one move and puts it up. He's not slow, either. He can run the floor better than most big menComparing him to Mutumbo isn't fair. Dikembe hasn't ever been any kind of offesensive threat what so ever. Oden won't be a 25 point a game guy, but he doesn't need to be. He'll be a 20-12 guy with 2 blocks a game. You also gotta think about it like this...he's only 19, even though he looks like he's 65. He has plenty of time to develop a mid range jumper. Which, I would imagine he'll do once he's able to even jump a little bit. He's not weak. He can muscle in there with the likes Howard or Stoudemire right now, but give him a couple years. He'll be better his first year of play than Howard (12 points 10 boards) or Stoudemire (13 points 9 boards) were.

This is a league where you dont need your big man to drop 30 points a night like Shaq was in his prime. Your big man needs to be able to put up 15-20, grab some boards, and pass on offense. He needs to be able to block shots and rebound on defense.

I asked Cam why he seemingly dropped off the face of the planet this past spring, especially after that infamous youtube clip. One minute he was telling 50 Cent it was going to be a hot summer, and the next minute, Cam was M.I.A. But he said when the beef with 50 cent, the Tru Life and Jim Jones’ beef, and his altercation with Tru Life, all happened one right after the other, he got hit by a family emergency that took priority. Cam’s mom suffered a number of strokes that left her paralyzed on her left side. He moved her to Florida for a while, set up her rehabilitation and therapy, and kept an eye on her: “I told her, you not dying on my watch.”
[sidenote: I’m glad to hear Cam’s mom is doing better, Ms. Frederica is a real character. Back in the day, she even got her son to give her some burn on a song, “Me, My Moms, and Jimmy,” off Confessions of Fire album. “You think Cam’s nice, he’s a son of a gun,” lol.]

Cam says that while he was dealing with the personal, there were business issues as well. “Also, me and Asylum weren’t seeing eye to eye at the time. But we recently worked things out. We had a conversation with the lawyers and with Todd (Moscowitz), so now we’re straight. I wasn’t gonna drop the mixtape until that happened….”

But all the while, Cam said he was also watching how other people were reacting to his absence.

“Even when I had my mom situated, she had the help she needs, the physical therapy, everything was right–that was like a month ago—I still laid low, because when I come out it’s gonna be done it right. But I just sat back and bugged out at how everyone else was acting.

I heard all the rumors, mad felonious shit, fake shit.

I am so disillusioned with Dog the Bounty Hunter. I really connected with his message, being a criminal, then moving to a Christian life, trying to make a difference. And his family reminded me of bikers I know, they look all crazy and they're lod and violent, but get to know 'em and they'll give you the shirt off their back. I see that in alot of Christians though. It's hars to let go of all that old hate and prejudice. They don't realize that when Jesus said that he would bear our burdens that he really meant it. 'Sup homeboy? I haven't checked Basketball yet this season. Hockey takes precedence and my team's in a 'rebuilding' year. The Raptors had a respectable year last year and I've Chris Bosh is bound to either come up big or get traded. Like I said I only started watching a little while ago. I haven't been a basketball fan since Jordan and Pippen. I worked my ass off one summer in junior high to make the team, made it on defence, then got cut for the shortest guy in school. His dad was some government big shot and was on the PTA, got my ass tossed so his weak-ass kid could play. He didn't even make final cut. Same with Hockey, the equipment is expensive and my parents couldn't afford it, even though the coach said he would love to have me on the team. I would show up and play with the team during practice and shit. I kinda got turned off sports when I was 13 and found my way in the street. Dope and crime and shit. Now I don't live that way anymore, so I'm gettin back into sports. I lost all my skills though in b-ball.

now, first and foremost let me say this:

Fuck greg oden. He dont want nothing to do with them Florida Gators. Ever. In his fucking lifetime.

But he's ill. I hate to admit it, I really do. You gotta look at the tools he already has, and know that he's only going to get better. His college team was already ill before he got there. But he was the best player on that team, by far. With a broken right wrist. And he's right handed. Still the best. But he came in off of 4 straight High School State titles. In Indiana. That's no small feat. He never lost a post season game until the championship to Florida since he was 14 years old. And who knows how many before that. No telling how many city titles he won being 6'6 in middle school. I would imagine probably all of them, too.

But he had Mike Conley. Now, he has Brandon Roy. I'll take Roy, everyday. It's gonna take Roy a little while to learn Oden, and his style of play, but they'll get it figured out. Do I buy Oden as one of the best centers ever. No. But he'll be better than most.

You're right when you say he doesn't want it with Dwight or Stoudemire right now. But they wouldn't want it with themselves right now, if they were rookies. (if that made sense)

Camby's rookie numbers were 15 points (career high), 6 rebs, BTW.

I don't think the scouting has gotten worse, the field has just been leveled. Before, even 20 years ago, there were a select number of schools kids went to. In football, you went to Nebraska, Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Alabama among very few others. In basketball, you went to UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Duke. But now you got premier recruits going everywhere, and people follow them. The top high school WR in the country will see where the top 5 QBs in the country sign, and choose who he wants to play with.

Also, there are coaches who are kept on staff, or even hired JUST because they are sick recruiters. (see ron zook) Zook got Arrelius Benn to go to Illinois. ILLINOIS! That's like getting Noel Devine to go to Florida Atlantic.

I really hate bringing race into things but you know it plays a part in it..If Andy Reid name was Lovie Smith, Herb Edwards or somebody like that things would be different..But there's a different set of rules for coaches and players..Why? The majority of the players are black and the majority of coaches are white..If a college player gets a DUI he gets kicked off the team but the coach won't get fired for doing the same thing..But there aren't too many black coaches to use as a comparison either..But it's definitely a race issue just as the shit David Stearn is allowing with the referees..Instead of punishing them he makes it easier for them to gamble and shit..The NBA is worried about their image and are stopping the athletes from making rap albums but it's okay for referees to cheat and bet on games..The racism that goes on in sports still amaze me to this day..

But as far as the refs in the NBA, their gambling rules were a little stiff. They were changed, but they still can't bet on games. Before, they weren't even allowed to buy lotto tickets or play slot machines. That's what they're allowed to do now. Just petty gambling. Scratch off tickets and shit like that.
