I try to show love to everybody and respect everybody's music but enough is enough. The problem is these fucking labels want artists who are already established. Basically they want you to have already gotten x amount of radio spins, sold x amount of copies and already have a buzz going...That shyt takes money and if you don't have it then you're screwed... No one is being signed based off of sheer talent and that's a damn shame..As a result you have artists such as myself who get the short end of the stick. The outcome from that is hip hop suffers as a whole..You have these wack ass southern artists coming out with all these bullshyt songs and basically spitting in the face of the people who put their blood, sweat, and tears into this rap shyt and laid down the foundation. Thats how I look at it.. I feel we owe those cats better songs than soldier boy, laffy taffy, you ain't got these, check my footwork(just to name a few wack ass songs) OH AND I'M FROM THE SOUTH BY THE WAY....ALABAMA TO BE EXACT, BORN AND RAISED. When cats down here listen to my music they say oh you don't even sound like you're from down here you're east coast dick riding....NO..It's just that I was raised on east coast hip hop. Don't get me wrong I was raised on southern hip hop also. Cats like the ghetto boys, 5th ward boys, black monks, trinity garden(fuck it the whole rap-a-lot from back in the day) eightball &MJG(the whole suave house), Outkast, Goodie Mob...But by the time these southern artists came east coast rap had already laid down my lyrical foundation so those southern cats only added fuel to the fire...you know what's scary though? I just finished recording my album..While working on this album I was working two jobs. Imagine if I wasn't working and the only thing I had to do was work on music everyday all day. Nobody could touch me on this MIC. WITH THAT BEING SAID, IF I EVER GET A RECORD DEAL IT'S GOING TO BE TROUBLE....

Basically they want you to have already gotten x amount of radio spins, sold x amount of copies and already have a buzz going...That shyt takes money and if you don't have it then you're screwed... No one is being signed based off of sheer talent and that's a damn shame..As a result you have artists such as myself who get the short end of the stick. The outcome from that is hip hop suffers as a whole..You have these wack ass southern artists coming out with all these bullshyt songs and basically spitting in the face of the people who put their blood, sweat, and tears into this rap shyt and laid down the foundation. Thats how I look at it.. I feel we owe those cats better songs than soldier boy, laffy taffy, you ain't got these, check my footwork(just to name a few wack ass songs) OH AND I'M FROM THE SOUTH BY THE WAY....ALABAMA TO BE EXACT, BORN AND RAISED. When cats down here listen to my music they say oh you don't even sound like you're from down here you're east coast dick riding....NO..It's just that I was raised on east coast hip hop. Don't get me wrong I was raised on southern hip hop also. Cats like the ghetto boys, 5th ward boys, black monks, trinity garden(fuck it the whole rap-a-lot from back in the day) eightball &MJG(the whole suave house), Outkast, Goodie Mob...But by the time these southern artists came east coast rap had already laid down my lyrical foundation so those southern cats only added fuel to the fire...you know what's scary though? I just finished recording my album..While working on this album I was working two jobs. Imagine if I wasn't working and the only thing I had to do was work on music everyday all day. Nobody could touch me on this MIC. WITH THAT BEING SAID, IF I EVER GET A RECORD DEAL IT'S GOING TO BE TROUBLE....

yeah mayne I'm still up at the hospital (it's been a whole 2 weeks)..Because I started so late in the year, I'm not eligible for the benefits until January 3rd or somethin like that, but I'm signin up.

I was actually walking back to my department the other day and saw my doctor and she said 'oh my goodness I haven't seen you since your 18th check up/physical'

I was like "that's a good thing. I dont want to see you in the future either"

but knock on wood, cuz I still dont have those benefits, so I'm hopin that my immune system is gonna continue the fight against the nasty shit I come in contact with every day (MRSA, C Diff, etc).

Yo real talk, everyone in here, I know we dont think about the possibilities of the nasty shit you can get by simply opening a door at work, or turning off the sink after washing your hands, but do some research on MRSA. It's not just in gyms and weight rooms. It's one of those things that once you get it, you never get rid of it, and it's not something you want.

C Diff is a nice way of saying a bacteria that causes explosive and uncontrollable diarrhrea, which I have yet to get 'sprayed' from. Thank God for that.

but yo enough of the nasty talk.

I met the most ballin O.G. of all time. 87 year old man with one eye..funniest old man ever.

And being in a place like the hospital will give you a certain outlook on things..like no matter how bad I have it, or think I have it, I talk to people every single day who have it 1,000 times worse than I could ever want it. And they got smiles on their faces (sometimes).

I feel what you sayin on that topic. As a white guy I know that if I took black influences out of my record collection I'd be left with classical and that's it. most of the forms of music that exist today were taken from a bergeoning black culture from the mid 1900's. Ya gotta give credit where it's due, blues, jazz, soul, were the building blocks for country, rock and what is today called R&B (I don't think that label works for me though). Hip Hop is just the most recent form of music pioneered by black people and I can see why y'all defend it as black expression after watching what we did to bastardize so many other forms of black expression. I just like good music, so I like hip hop, funk, blues and soul instead of shit music like the Foo Fighters, Britany Spears and Kenny Chesney. If you're into anything especially music you should know the history. Where does that expression come from? Who were the innovators who made it popular? What is it trying to express> People just jump on bandwagons and fuck up real good music by filling it full of phoney people and shitty music.

what i got to say is not mean to take us back to enemy status.

i realize that my opinion only coincides with what u just said about non-black people not feeling ur comment.

that may or may not be true,

and i'm probably too close to it to know.

but i read the original post the other day,

and i found it racist because u were generalizing about Puerto Ricans,

to me that's not right.

u referred to Latino people as Spanish, which is disrespectful to many of us.

that's like White people seriously referring to Black folks as Negros or Colored still.

but i liked how u responded to litebastard because u do have the ability to argue ur point well,

i understand ur perspective as a Black man. and i respect it as well.

u believe that the Black community needs unity 1st.

and that just because Hip Hop has evolved and has been made accessible and appealing to other racial groups,

it is still a Black phenomenon.

i agree with that.

even tho i am not Black, my whole life has been lived amongst Black folks in the ghetto.

(i only mention the ghetto piece because i realize that is diff. than growing up in a middle class or other Black community).

the suffering i have witnessed and been apart of means a lot to me,

which is why i have devoted my career to the issues that affect, at least, the community i reside in.

but, to me, what u are talking about re: Black and Brown people is division/divide and conquer.

and that needs to come to an end too.

no racial group of color will ever succeed fully as long as they are unable to unify with others in their same/similar position.

maybe i'm biased because i am one of those u referred to as being absorbed into another racial community than my own.

so my ideal would be that at least people of color could unify.

but i hear u on saying that ur working with the way the world is, not how it should be.

i guess i'm the opposite cause i believe that the world can only be what we make it.

if i unify with others and model that for others, maybe it will spread to others over time.

and if not, at least i know i put as much effort into it as i could because it's something i believe in.

as far as people getting at each other on-line,

i think we all agree it can be entertaining.

but i don't think it should dominate the board and take away from the real issues we discuss.

if so, we are contributing to the dummy down process that is so prevalent already.

i much more prefer to see everybody debate back and forth about real shit, if it's gonna be long-term.

i enjoy that hilarious charges back and forth, too, but not taken to the extreme.

hope u don't take none of that the wrong way.

cause i don't mean to imply that this is all about u,

u just so happen to be speaking on it right now.

so that's just my take on it all.

I don't wanna get into the differences between our two tax systems tho, that could take forever ad I know nothing. All I know is I bust my balls to make a dollar and the gov't takes 35 cents. I think alot of black people got all uptight when Eminem started to get hot, but after he started rippin' it up people kinda fell back. They saw he had love for the art and was doing it with skill, he respected the history of where hip hop come from and those who paved the way. Some folks just don't like Eminem, but to each his own. "Music is like art, 90% of it is crap." I can't remember where that quote comes from, but I like it.

nah it cooled off a little bit..we in the low 80's.

It's supposed to be a high of 80 on christmas. Dont even get cold in the winter time.

We just had a couple of days this past week where the high was in the low 70's, and when I got up to go to work it was in the mid 40's. I love that shit, I was ridin with the windows down and all that.

My homeboy is getting ready to fly down from Ohio tomorrow and asked if he should bring some 'cold weather clothes'

Yea I feel you on that. I think the Chi been consistently relevant though, which is good because you no NY be trying to hog it. People think NY and label everybody up here under that umbrella, but Philly its own place too. A dude from NY and a dude from Philly can tell each others differences from the back.

But anyway, I think I always liked the sounds that came out of the Chi. The messed up part though is I aint always no the dudes was from there. But thats changin cause dudes reppin more. Chi definitely on the map, you gotta respect it.

I've been workin for 2 weeks now..and still haven't smoked. But that's changing. Tonight.

I had to go to employee health and get blood drawn and do a couple of other tests, like mask fittings and all that kind of stuff, and I wanted to be clean incase they were tryin to come on the stealth mode follow up piss test, or use part of that blood sample I gave to test.

But I did the last one on Thursday, and was too tired to really get in to anything last night. Plus, I'm still broke, so I couldn't get cop any.

But this week comin up is going to be a very good week.

Christmas the 25th, First Paycheck the 27th, my Birthday the 30th.

I'ma be RICH! haha nah but I should have enough to pay back my debts to people who loaned me the money to take care of my bills, which is good. I hate having to ask to borrow money for real. And people are all sayin 'don't rush it. pay me back when you can'

But I'm the kind of person that as soon as I got that dollar you let me hold, it's yours. That way, if I gave you the dollar I need to pay my bills, I can borrow it again :) haha nah I'm playin

That first paycheck is always a sweet one, then it's just tryin' to stretch them for the next 14 days. I realize now that the more money I make, the more I spend. If I got a dollar I smoke 1 joint. If I got $1000 I'll blow a whole oz. I'm a feind when it comes to spending money. I do in a stack like it's nuthin. That's something I gotta change. I'm just starting to get my retirement funds and investments in order. This spring I'll be lookin' at what it'll take to buy me a house. Them shits are expensive as fuck up here cause we're going though a big oil boom. Everybody got money, just not enough places to live. There's homeless people makin' six-figures a year and I'm not kidding, it's bananas up here! I gotta buy a house though 'cause my family has never owned a home. I grew up in apartments and gov't buildings, rented condos and shit. Hell, right now I'm living two blocks form the gov't pad I lived in in high school. I like being back in the old 'hood tho. All the little punk kids are teenage thug wannabes now. I laugh, they steal my stereo. Just like when I was their age. Anyway I'm buying a house, that way no one in my family will ever have to be homeless again.

R. Kelly Child-Pornography Trial To Begin May 9

After years of incessant delays, R. Kelly's child-pornography case will finally commence May 9. The trial had previously been scheduled for September 17 but was postponed early that month because the lead prosecutor had recently given birth.

Kelly also avoided having his bond revoked Friday morning. Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan had threatened to do so after chiding the singer for missing a hearing on Wednesday after his tour bus was stopped in Utah for a speeding infraction. An arrest warrant had been issued for the R&B singer, who avoided going to jail when he showed for a 9 a.m. court date on Thursday, but Gaughan threatened to revoke the bond anyway.

Also on Friday, Gaughan considered forcing Kelly to call off his U.S. tour but didn't follow through with the punishment. Gaughan said he decided on leniency because of the "unintended consequences" of canceling such an event, including disappointing fans and a loss of income for venue workers.

The judge did, however, order him to cancel a January 13 concert in Hampton, Virginia, to ensure Kelly doesn't miss his next court appearance on January 14, the paper reports. He performed Friday night in Chicago.

In addition, Gaughan mandated that any vehicles transporting Kelly were not to break any speeding laws, and that if the singer couldn't return to Chicago in time for his next court appearance, that he must return by aircraft. The Chicago Tribune quoted Kelly as saying, "I'm sorry for this whole incident, and the next time I would be on a plane if it came down to it."

The Kelly case has dragged on for five years without a trial and originated with 14 counts of child pornography filed against him in 2002 for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an allegedly underage girl. Kelly, 40, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

what i do know is that we live in a racist society and no one is completely exempt from it.

but i was actually just going to post that same story about that Black father who is being convicted of shooting that white teen.

now imo that's some pure White systematic and institutional racism.

and i agree 100% and would put every dime i have on the fact that if the mob was Black and the family/father was White,

he would not have been convicted.

i do not believe that Black people can enact racism to that degree because they are not in that position of power.

at the same time that doesn't mean that they can't have racist perspectives or beliefs.

and the only time i consider any person of color behaving in that context is when it is between groups of people of color.

this next statement may or may not (depending on who u ask) reflect my inherent own racism,

but i don't really think that it is possible for people of color to be racist towards White folks

i consider that more like self-protection and defense.

and i never turn a blind to racism that effects Black men especially,

because i am raising two myself and i know that they have and will continue to experience it throughout life.

at the same time i have experienced more than my share of racism from numerous groups of people,

so i know what it is.

anyway, i appreciate that we can disagree or debate w/o it being an issue,

as a mixed person i am entitled to define myself,

so i don't judge how others may choose to define themselves,

even if i disagree.

it's true that i don't come into contact with all that many conscious Black people,

where i am at.

the sad part is that people who feel like that lady i was referring to are usually older

and don't know true history all like that.

they are working off of stereotypes

because as i said earlier this is a racist society,

no one is exempt.

it wouldn't be a racist society if it weren't reciprocal.

not knowing real history will cause some Black people to feel

shame about being the decendents of Africans and slaves.

because they don't know about the resistance and rebellion in a

real sense.

they just know what White folks have portrayed in school and the media.

and that may be part of it.

but i also think it has to do with culture,

and that's what many Black people who reject

"African-American" as a definition of who they are,

are pointing out:

that the culture of Black people in the U.S. is

very distinct from African culture.

i think it has a lot to do with what Mak said too about how

some Africans in the U.S. look down on Black people, mostly due

to stereotypes and vice versa,

some Black people ain't feelin Africans for the same reason.

at the end of the day, i think it also feels like

White folks aren't just 'white' either I myself am Irish, French, Polish, Ukrainian, and a little Native Canadian, just a little tho. You could go to 5 different white people's houses this time of year and see 5 different distinct cultures celebrating Christmas in different traditions. Heck up here there's so much diversity it's crazy! I bet just in my apartment building there's prolly half a dozen families from different countries celebrating different holidays. That's the best thing about living in Canada, everyone's from somewhere else, except the Native people. You choose to be a Canadian, no one really forces you to assimilate.
But I think there's too much emphasis on being either distinct or conformist when it comes to your heratige. You should be able to be who you are, rep where you're from, and still participate in this western culture that we enjoy in Canada and the US. Division isn't always a positive thing, but being proud of who you are and your individual significance sahouldn't be viewed as being a bad thing either. Don't let people label you or try to put who you are into some kind of box. Only small minded people need to fit people into their own terms, real people let people be themselves as the see themselves.

THere was a big deal in the media up here last week about the Hijab that some Muslim girls and women wear. I'm from Alberta and the Alberta Soccer Association banned a bunch of young girls from playing because they were wearing tha hijab. They said it was because it was a safety hazard, and the rules ban anything that could cause injury from being worn. They had to have some big meeting and eventually figured out that there is a type of hijab worn for sports that they could wear. But it's just a bunch of little kids wanting to play with their friends. Let the children play!! There was also a 16 year old girl killed by her father last week because she refused to wear the traditional Muslim clothing to school. She just wanted to be like her firends, but now she's gone. (Prayers for her family and friends). We gotta stop the insanity and let kids be kids!!!

@YFF Naw, I work for a chemical distributor up here servicing the oilfield. We big in that oil and it never stops. I provide chemicals for production of oil and natural gas, so someone gotta be around just in case someone needs sumthin', that lucky guy is me 'till the 28th. I get calls from companies and then I gotta go to the facility and fill the order, get the product out. It's just like sellin dope, but legal! I'm just feeding the oil feinds! The hours and money are similar. I just started last year, so I'm trying to make myself known by taking on the highest work load. (I'm also a greedy MOFO!!!) I was in the street for like years and it just about cost me everything, so I'm on my legal hustle like my life depends on it - cause it does. Couple years back all I had was the clothes on my back, but I got offered an opportunity to clean up and do good, so I'm on it! You only get so many chances before the reaper comes for ya, so I got my love of Jesus now, my girl, my balls and my word. I'm off the shady shit and into the light! Praise GOD!

I venture to say, that being racist, will in fact hurt you more than it will hurt your target. For one, it breeds a clouded ineffective mind. If your brain can't operate at peak performance, because your emotional charges are too high, then you are in fact hurting yourself more.

Do you agree, that hate clouds the mind?

Do you agree that a clouded mind wastes a lot of energy?

Do you agree that hate can be self destructive?

Do you agree that it is contradictory to feel that the white is a devil if he is racist, but the black man is an angel if he is racist?

Mind you to go even deeper, its not even about color. Shit even Malcolm X realized that. White and Black aint the issue, culture is the issue. If you breed a negative culture, it dont matter what color skin you are, the breed is bad.

Think about what culture means, like socially and scientifically. Think about bacteria and how it breeds culture. You got good bacterias (good cultures) and you have bad bacterias (bad cultures).

Its a domino effect.

But if you think that its an effective strategy to teach these new generations hate, then I say you are teaching them failure.

You are teaching them to spend more of their energy on something other than themselves.

How venture to say, they should stop worrying about the "white man" all together and focus more on how they shoot themselves in the foot.

We got to stop wasting energy. Playing chess with checker pieces.

The real war, is an internal struggle with ones self.

If you master that one, any outside forces become insignificant to your well being.

Imma stop right here, but its a worthy topic of debate. And I got no problem chopping it up some more about it. Theres still more for me to learn. But I need you to clarify more on your angle. And also your solution to the black man's plight.
