LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Influential Southern rapper Pimp C died of an accidental overdose of a combination of drugs he had named in his lyrics -- codeine and promethazine, the county coroner's office ruled Monday.

The drugs are key ingredients in "syrup," a narcotic of choice in Southern rap circles that was most famously celebrated by Three 6 Mafia and Pimp C's group Underground Kingz in the 2000 single "Sippin' on some Syrup."

The coroner's office said Pimp C had sleep apnea, which causes people to stop breathing for up to 30 seconds at a time while sleeping. That illness combined with large amounts of prescription-strength cough syrup is what killed the rapper, coroner's Capt. Ed Winter said.

DJ Screw, another influential figure in the Texas hip-hop scene, died of a heart attack in 2000 after a reported overdose of codeine-laced cough syrup.

Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was 33 when he was found in his bed December 4 at the upscale Mondrian hotel in West Hollywood. The coroner's office said his body was decomposing when it was found.

With partner-in-rhyme Bun B, Pimp C was half of the pioneering Port Arthur, Texas-based rap duo UGK. The group's self-titled CD topped the Billboard charts last year. Pimp C had been working on a solo effort before he died.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This
information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.

Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze
your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from
the plastic.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle
Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He
talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using
plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain
fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics
releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or
ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only
without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and
soups, etc.,should be removed from the container and heated in something else.
paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer
to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants
moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is
one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as
dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As
the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt
out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life!

@ Dre he has always taken his time so I am not too suprised. Besides the postion he is in right now, he can pretty much do whatever he wants. People that are pressed to release albums do cause they are worried the material will be irrelivant in the future, but Dre makes timeless classixs so I doubt it will affect the content or the material no matter when it's dropped.

@The world coming to an end-------to be honest with everyone, I just skip through them joints cause I can't really take much more of this. i spend my money on quality (that's a bit of a fib. cuz i did buy nas' last two albums and they were corny. only songs were the virgo and where are they now. but i did it out of support)

but 98% of the time, I spend my dough on quality. I could give a fuck where they're from.

blind support hurts artistic shit.

for instance the best producer out - excluding the greats (pete rock, dre, diamond d., beatnuts, large pro etc) - is madlib. and he from the middle of cali somewhere.

i check for alchoholiks and king tee but naw, I heard what I needed to hear and E-40 ain't that shit. but del the funky homosapien used to rock. I can't vouch for him now. I haven't heard anything in a minute.

and before there was a such thing as the dirty south movement, i had a rekkid back in the day from a group from houston called the odd squad. they had a track with a rockin bassline called I can't see it. the rapper was blind.

it don't matter where a muvafucka from we should support quality.
support of regions or dudes from ya block hurts the music in the long term.

You know I know that exactly why record sales are down as a whole but the problem with record sales up there has been a problem for years..Y'all artists have always sold more in other states than their home states..I ain't saying we don't have the same problems pertaining to technology but our artists are still selling a couple hundred thousand units and most are independent..Look at the Southern artists on Def Jam opposed to the Northern artists..Most of our artists have their own record labels, which give them a bigger percentage plus they don't need the labels push as much because they got that love from their home state..I think you should check soundscan for the past year or so because T.I. ain't the only one moving units either..I think a rapper is doing good to go gold on a major and even better if they sold 300k on and independent..

But UGK has been consistently at gold for their whole career..Lil Wayne is going to sell more than any rapper has since 50's second cd..The kind of buzz that he have from all the songs and these legal issues are going to give him higher first week sales than 50 had on his last one..I'll put money on that because these kids feed into so much of the bullshit and he does have a certain aura about him that is attracting a lot of fans..

The only reason niggaz on the streetz ain't controlling the radio stations is because they aren't the ones purchasing cd's..I know NY but it represents a certain region and most people in that region follow their lead..You can't compare the albums sales in the South and West to up there because the artists in these areas are still moving 6 figure units..People like Spice 1, MC Eiht, DJ Quik and a host of others that were at the top when the West had control of the market are still selling a couple hundred thousand units with no video or major radio play..UGK, 8Ball and MJG and a lot of others did it for years before their careers took off on a major scale..They have a strong fan base in their regions..That's why I say niggaz in the South don't really care if people catch on everywhere else they will still do numbers down here and plus they aren't going to get too many record sales up there anyway..

Okay, check it..Cormeaga is a real proud NY nigga but he can't sell 4 figures his first week up there..I guarantee if he went out West or came down here he'd be doing at least 6 figures easy..The climate of the people is different in different regions and some have more tension, aggression and negative mentalities..It ain't hate or nothing it's just me calling it from my point of view..Most(not all) niggaz i've met from up that way have this competition thing with them that ain't as much of a factor everywhere else..We are a proud people as a whole so it does exist everywhere but not nearly on the same scale..I think it have to do with the struggle that people go through up there but that's just my opinion..

But you got the wrong idea because it's a billion and one rappers trying to get on that ain't being heard because they coming out trying to be the next nigga instead of being them but that's everywhere..No rapper has been duplicated more than Jay-Z in the last 10 years or so..So, that's not just a regional thing because those impostors are coming from the catz up there..As a matter of fact it's a guy I know that will never see the light of day because he sounds like a NY nigga but ain't never lived outside of GA..The thing is he is a nice lyricist but he's not being him with it..But you got the wrong idea from what I said..I was saying we should support those who make music we like and that's what's being down here..I know you want a world where all the music is conscious but that's not life..Neither is it all about partying either..We need both because too much of either will create a whole bunch of problems..They should be complementing each other..I wish the balance was around 70% conscious and 30% party..It's maybe 85% party and 15% conscious right now..

I'm with you because I listen to a wide range of people..I can appreciate shit that other people think is trash because even though i'm a serious post most of the time I like to enjoy myself as well..Most niggaz outside of the West don't even know who Mac Dre is but I dug his swag and that's what gives me the ability to be able to listen to a silly nigga like Gucci..Some rappers are entertainers, lyricists and some are revolutionaries...I can appreciate them all and don't necessarily feel everyone needs to be all in one but it would be nice to have at least a few people that can hold that torch..I think Jadakiss is one of the few that can pull it off but his album suffers somewhat from the inconsistencies with his original fan base..

Hey Blackpeople1, honestly the way that baby look and I hate to say this, he/she does look like an alien! I have never ever in my life seen something like that before, nonetheless heard any such thing until today! That is very distrubing, I wonder if the doctors knew while the mom was pregnant that the baby had that nasty skin disease? And if so, I wonder why she didn't abort it? I mean, that's is some other other ish there! First it was the man w/ the tree disease, now this! Omgness, I had some co-workers close their eyes b/c they didn't want see it anymore. A friend said, I have a strong stomach b/c he couldn't look at it!

I'm guessing the Government will want to take that baby and run all kinds of test on it or use it as an experiment, what do you think?
