I was blessed w/ the opportunity to interview Pun twice. Very cool, funny, down-to-earth dude. You could tell people just wanted to be around him cuz he was that entertaining. As for his music, he will always be on my short list of all-time favorite mc's. As far as achievements go, the first Latino rapper to go platinum... he opened the doors for all Latino MC's that followed him to get their foot in the door, myself included.

There was a time when Jay-Z's success was credited only by the death of Bigge Smalls. Of course, now we all acknowledge Hov's greatness. However I don't think the same thing about Fat Joe. If Big Pun was still around "CRACK" would be nothing more than another Terror Squad member.

Big Pun was a B-12 shot in the arm for hip hop and he forced other rappers to tighten their game up (which is what a new artist is supposed to do)

I think that Big Pun was either ghostwriting for Fat Joe or he made Fat Joe step his game up because when they were together, Fat Joe had some ill spit. Who remembers Fat Joe when he was with the D.I.T.C crew? Since Pun passed, he's been real commercial and simple on the lyrics.

No doubt Pun's version of Deep Cover was hotter than the west coast version. Credit due to Dr Dre for the beat though.

straight sick! i couldnt pick a line from this verse so i just put the whole verse up, this is hardcore hip hop done to the tee. if you listen closey you'll see this song is a testament to his condition, unlike the "capital punishment" pun, this one seems to be struggling for breath, as a result his flow is not as seamless as it was before.

In some ways, it seems like just yesterday he was ripping the fuck out of a verse on every 3rd videon on Rap City.

In some ways it seems like a lifetime ago.

A couple of the later songs he did that tend to not get mentioned but definitely should are "Leahterface: and "Whatcha Gonna Do".

good to see the "You came up" video on here. that one gets overlooked alot, and it showed a different side of Pun. Rockwilder laced a very uncharcteristic, but incredible beat with those horns and that song is a standout as well. Another one that never gets brought up is "Parental Discretion". That beat is so late 90's NY (in a good way) and Busta sounds a little more raw than he was by that point, more like he was on "Woo ha" and his initial solo shit right after leaving LONS, which sets off Puns flawless flow even more in contrast

There was only a few tracks I didn't fuck with when it came to Pun. He was a breath of fresh air and one of the funniest illest emcees to blaze the microphone. Funny thing is today, I popped in his last cd "yeah Baby" just to start my day off and the cd is still jamming. Of course, Capital Punishment is still crazy. As far as someone above saying how Fat Joe would just be another T/S member if Pun was still alive is a slap in the face to the man who put Pun on!!
