I didn't watch the debate last night or whenever it aired, i just haven't had the time to watch tv period. If the tv is on it's cuz my lil ones are watching cartoons..

However I'm gonna start tuning in again, as soon as theses courses are over, I can't wait, so I could just breath again..But yea I think these debates are good to watch for they give us a perspective of who we like to vote for, but I think at this point in time allot of people already done made up they minds who to vote for, and now just tuning into the debate to add more fuel and controversy and such and such, the whole politicial thing. During the Cold War, the US was trying to shape up coming nations to go with Democracy instead of Communism. & with those images, it showed how hypocritical for US to pose as a moral authority and leader in the world. When Blacks were attacked by police there was no PR campaign that could place the blame on the victim. Now, police can beat up and kill at will Black people with no retribution(not that has changed since the founding of this country) and no one bats an eye.
All the social ills are placed on Hip Hop shoulders, and when one of us gets killed then they can say they were justified.

I am not going as far as what the college professor are saying. To me their generation is the one that dropped the ball. After some of the "Affirmative Action" programs were put in place, many of his intellectual peers, jumped ship from the Black Freedom Movement to the Moving on Up Movement. They basically abandon the community that took the sacrifice for his high paying job. They couldn't even protect some of the people during their time. Some of them criticize Black Panther Party, even though they contributed to the drop of police brutility in the community and had many social programs. Now most, if not all, just write books and talk about the "good ol days" when Blacks were getting their ass whooped for being Black in their "integrated" high society neighborhoods.

And I have trouble when it comes to placing rappers as leaders in our community. Can some them do it? Sure, but to arbitrarily place a role on them is just lazy and ridiculous. Would they expect Earth, Wind and Fire to organize and lead marches back then? Marvin Gaye?

Question: Where is their critique on "Talented Tenth" and the wealthy(which have a long history) on their failure in the community?

The debates, for the most, are repetitive in the sense the candidates have already outlined their platforms. The interesting part is that all the love between Obama and Hillary has disappeared lol They keep throwing subliminal or direct jabs at each other once in a while. I like watching how the presenters change up the way they ask the questions and the way they treat the candidates. Also the candidates are using outside supports (which are figures in the community) to bash other candidates and then they play dumb like they didn't know that it was gone happen. Example, McCain had this well known radio show host to open up his speech for him in Ohio yesterday, and this dude was slamming Obama. And then afterwards McCain was like I condemn the way he was talking about Obama blah blah blah please.

@Working4betterday - I know you watch all the debates, What do you think? Did you see that guy who opened for McCain? He kept sayin' "Barak HUSSEIN Obama" when he referred to Obama trying to play games smh

See that was my rebuttal to his whole argument, when I was saying how can we say that rappers are the leaders of the generation...great point about the earth wind and fire and the marvin gayes, because I tried asking him about dont he think the lyrical content in some heavy metal music is just as damaging as some of the lyrics in hip hop music...His response was more along the lines of saying that the masses dont really listen to heavy metal like that...I also made the point that sometimes we place the blame on entertainers that should be placed on some of these parents...it was a good debate...I was in there like damn I need some of the AHH people to be in here cause the crowd was mainly older and tend to agree with a lot of what he was saying...now answer this do you feel that some of these artist should show some more accountability?

I'm not sure on this whole McCain thing, I think he just needs to like retire real bad. Out here in Arizona he gets no love, government Janet Napalitano had endorsed Obama, so pretty much all the Dems are rooting for him here in Phoenix, but else places like other cities here in Arizona I'm not sure who's going for who, but phoenix is behind Obama thats for sure, from the results seen this morning per polls on channel 10 local news.

Several white students in South Africa face criminal charges after allegedly forcing black campus employees to eat food that had been urinated on.

A video has surfaced which appears to show the students instructing five elderly workers to drink beer and perform athletic tasks.

At one point, the University of Free State employees are apparently forced to eat food which has been urinated on.

The rector at the university has strongly condemned the video.

Students and staff joined a protest march at the campus in Bloemfontein, and student groups say they are now planning to call nationwide anti-racism demonstrations.

All these issues must be brought forward so that all the people of South Africa can see that racism is still a dominant feature in South African society

The video was reportedly recorded in protest at moves to integrate black and white students in the same residences at the University of the Free State.

The BBC's Mpho Lakaje says the university is known for having predominantly white students since the days of apartheid.

In recent years it has encountered difficulties trying to integrate people from other racial groups, and the latest incident is viewed by many as a clear indication of racial intolerance, he says.

'Upset'

The video shows five black people allegedly being instructed by a group of white students to down full bottles of beer, reports our correspondent, who has watched it.

Students rallied near the campus, and other protests are planned

The university workers are then led to a playing field where they are told to display their athletic skills.

But it is the final extract of the film that has angered members of the public. It shows a white male urinating on food, and then - shouting: "Take! Take!" in Afrikaans - apparently forcing the campus employees to eat the dirty food, and causing them to vomit.

The alleged perpetrators are current or former students at the University of the Free State, say reports.

Its rector, Frederick Fourie, told the BBC that he was "extremely upset about the incident".

"We are having a management meeting. And there's a strong condemnation of this from everybody concerned," he said.

The university says it has begun procedures to suspend the students allegedly implicated in the video, and says the alleged victims have received psychological support.

Protests

On Wednesday, hundreds of black students and workers from the institution handed over a list of demands to management.

Siviwe Vamva, from the South African Students Congress, said the group was planning to call a national strike on Thursday 6 March to raise the profile its anti-racism campaign.

He said racism was also still a problem in other universities.

"It's not only the University of Free State," Mr Vamva said.

"We are saying that all these issues must be brought forward so that all the people of South Africa can see that racism is still a dominant feature in South African society."

The South African Institute of Race Relations has said this incident and several others over the past month could threaten general improvements in race relations since the end of apartheid.

The institute also condemned the shooting of four black people by a white youth, and the decision by the Forum for Black Journalists to evict a white journalist from a meeting.

I tought the debate would be on CNN, but it was on NBC. I missed it. I heard Hillary didn't make a huge impression on the audience and Obama had to answer some questions involving Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Did anybody hear that Radio Talk Show host (Bill Cunningham) who is supporting McCain diss Obama? McCain didn't like it and apoligize quickly.

Hillary has to win Ohio and Texas, but even if Hillary wins Barack will win the major cities which will give him a larger chunk of the delegates.

Then he will win vermont and the other states so she will lose the delegate count.

And if Barack wins the DNC he will beat McCain by a landslide!

McCain isn't liked by "real" republicans and most polls show Obama beating McCain.

So we may be looking at the next President if he wins enuff Delegates in Ohio and Texas

we also need to have respect for elders (which doesn't happen that much in hip hop, if the young ones are always saying that the old heads need to retire and quit the game). I highly doubt during the civil rights movement the college kids that were doing sit-ins, were disregarding the foundation and work laid out by their elders. So, in conclusion hip hop can become the next civil rights movement but ALOT has to change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need to remind people of why they fell in love with hip hop. i was always taught that money is the root of all evil. The game needs a makeover, the culture and the respect needs to come back. I don't know maybe if we didn't support this shit thats being kicked then alot of ur favorite rappers wouldn't be rich. The day that i see KRS-1, Rakim, Chuck D, Slick Rick, Doug E. Early life and education
Madam Nyaniba gave birth to Francis Nwia Kofi Ngonloma[2][3] in Nkroful, Gold Coast.[4] Nkrumah graduated from the Achimota School in Accra in 1930,[1] later studying at the Roman Catholic Seminary and teaching at the Catholic school in Axim. In 1935 he left Ghana for the United States, receiving a BA from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania in 1939, where he pledged the Mu Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.and in 1942 received an STB (Bachelor of Sacred Theology). He also earned a Master of Science in education from the University of Pennsylvania in 1942 and a Master of Arts in philosophy the following year. While lecturing in political science at Lincoln he was elected president of the African Students Organization of America and Canada. As an undergraduate at Lincoln he participated in at least one student theater production and published an essay on European government in Africa in the student newspaper,The Lincolnian.[5]

During his time in the United States, Nkrumah visited and preached in black Presbyterian Churches in Philadelphia and New York City. He read books about politics and divinity. He encountered the ideas of Marcus Garvey. He also tutored other students in philosophy. He also met the Trinidadian Marxist C.L.R. James in 1943, and later described how it was from James, then a Trotskyist, that he learnt 'how an underground movement worked'.

He arrived in London in May 1945 intending to study at the LSE. However, after meeting with George Padmore he helped to organize the Fifth Pan-African Congress in Manchester, England. After that he founded the West African National Secretariat to work for the decolonization of Africa. He also became Vice-President of the West African Students' Union (WASU).

Nkrumah was later awarded honorary doctorates by Lincoln University, Moscow State University; Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt; Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland; Humboldt University in the former East Berlin; and other universities.

In the autumn of 1947 Nkrumah was invited to serve as the General Secretary to the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) under Joseph B. Danquah. This political convention was exploring paths to independence. Nkrumah accepted the position and set sail for the Gold Coast. After brief stops in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Ivory Coast, he arrived in the Gold Coast in December 1947.

In February 1948 police fired upon a protest by African ex-servicemen who were protesting the rapidly rising cost of living. The shooting spurred a series of riots in Accra, Kumasi and elsewhere. The government suspected the UGCC was behind the protests and therefore arrested Nkrumah and other leading members of the party. Realizing their error, the British soon released the convention leaders. After his imprisonment by the colonial government, he emerged as the leader of the youth movement in 1948.

After his release Nkrumah began to hitchhike around the countryside. In community after community he proclaimed that the Gold Coast needed "self-government now." He built a large power base. The cocoa farmers rallied to his cause because they disagreed with British policy concerning the containment of swollen shoot disease. He appealed to women to be a part of the political process at a time when women's suffrage was new to Western Democracy. The trade unions also allied with his movement. By 1949 he had organized these groups into a new political party: The Convention People's Party.

Making moves towards self-government, the British called for the drafting of a New Constitution that gave some responsibility for policy decisions. Under the new Constitution, drawn up by a selected commission of middle class Africans, wage and property requirements were the basis for suffrage. Nkrumah brought together his own "People's Assembly" composed of representatives of party members, youth organizations, trade unions, farmers, and veterans. Their proposals called for a universal franchise without property qualifications, a separate house of chiefs, and self-governing status under the Statute of Westminster. These amendments, known as the Constitutional Proposals of October 1949, were rejected by the colonial administration.

The colonial administration's rejection of the People's Assembly's recommendations led directly to Nkrumah’s call for "Positive Action" in January 1950. Positive Action included civil disobedience, non-cooperation, boycotts, and strikes. The colonial administration arrested Nkrumah and many of his supporters in the CPP. Nkrumah was sentenced to three years in prison.

Facing international protests and internal resistance, the British decided to leave the Gold Coast. Britain organized the first general election to be held in Africa under universal franchise; it was held on 5-10 February 1951. Though in jail, Nkrumah won the election by a landslide, with the CPP taking 34 out of 38 elected seats in the Legislative Assembly. On 12 February Nkrumah was released from prison, and on the 13th was summoned by the British Governor Charles Arden-Clarke and asked to form a government. On 20 February the new Legislative Assembly met, with Nkrumah as Leader of Government Business and E.C. Quist as President of the Assembly. A year later, on 10 March 1952, the constitution was amended to provide for a Prime Minister, and on 21 March Nkrumah was elected to that post by a secret ballot in the Assembly, 45 to 31, with eight abstentions. On 10 July 1953 he presented his "Motion of Destiny" to the Assembly, which approved it, requesting independence within the British Commonwealth "as soon as the necessary constitutional arrangements are made".

Nkrumah and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.As a leader of this government, Nkrumah faced three serious challenges. First, he needed to learn the art of government. Second, he needed to create a unified nation of Ghana from the four territories of the Gold Coast. Third, he needed to win his nation’s independence. Nkrumah was successful at all three goals. Within six years of his release from prison, he was the leader of an independent nation.

At 12 a.m. on March 6, 1957, Nkrumah declares Ghana independent. Nkrumah was now hailed as "Osagyefo" - which means "the victorious one" in the Akan language.

On 6 March 1960, Nkrumah announced plans for a new constitution which would make Ghana a republic. The draft included plans for an eventual surrender of Ghanaian soveriegnty to a union of African states. On 19, 23, and 27 April 1960 a presidential election and plebiscite on the constitution were held. The constitution was ratified and Nkrumah elected president, beating J. B. Danquah, the UP candidate, 1,016,076 to 124,623. In 1963, Nkrumah was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize by the Soviet Union. Ghana became a charter member of the Organization of African Unity in 1963.

Gold Coast was already one of the most wealthy and socially advanced territories in Africa, with schools, railways, hospitals, social security and an advanced economy. Under Nkrumah’s leadership, Ghana took steps towards a more socialist state. Nkrumah created a welfare system, started various community programs, and established schools. He ordered the construction of roads and bridges to further commerce and communication. In the interest of the nation’s health, he had tap water systems installed in the villages and ordered the construction of concrete drains for latrines. However, his programs must, in the end, be judged unsuccessful, since the country's fortunes declined under his administration.

He generally took a non-aligned Marxist perspective on economics, and believed capitalism's malign effects were going to stay with Africa for a long time. Although he was clear on distancing himself from the African socialism of many of his contemporaries; Nkrumah argued that socialism was the system that would best accommodate the changes that capitalism had brought, while still respecting African values. He specifically addresses these issues and his politics in a 1967 essay entitled "African Socialism Revisited":

"We know that the traditional African society was founded on principles of egalitarianism. In its actual workings, however, it had various shortcomings. Its humanist impulse, nevertheless, is something that continues to urge us towards our all-African socialist reconstruction. We postulate each man to be an end in himself, not merely a means; and we accept the necessity of guaranteeing each man equal opportunities for his development. The implications of this for socio-political practice have to be worked out scientifically, and the necessary social and economic policies pursued with resolution. Any meaningful humanism must begin from egalitarianism and must lead to objectively chosen policies for safeguarding and sustaining egalitarianism. Hence, socialism. Hence, also, scientific socialism."[6]

Nkrumah was also perhaps best known politically for his strong commitment to and promotion of Pan-Africanism. Having been inspired by the writings and his relationships with black intellectuals like Marcus Garvey, W.E.B. DuBois, and George Padmore; Nkrumah went on to himself inspire and encourage Pan-Africanist positions amongst a number of other African independence leaders and activists from the African diaspora. With perhaps Nkrumah's biggest success in this area coming with his significant influence in the founding of the Organization of African Unity.

Out of 11 m.c. questions, I missed 4, and they're worth 5 points each, so I got a 35/55 on that part, but then there was 4 bonus points I got right, so that's a 39/55, which is somethin like a 71%. But then I still have to wait for the free response to be graded, and I know I f***** up on that, so I'd be lucky to have gotten a C overall.
But we get our worst grade out of the 4 tests dropped, and this one was supposed to be the hardest of the 4, so I just gotta buckle down & study for the last 2 when they come around.

LOL, ahh aint have nothin to do with it. Only day I was on here when I probably shouldn't have been was yesterday, and there's no way you can learn the stuff this test was on in a few hours like that.
I had a test in another class Monday afternoon, and we don't get a drop in that class, so the test counted as 20% of my grade in that course. Spent most of the weekend studying for that instead of math, since we get a drop in there.

And the tests are from 8:30-10PM for math, and then at like 10:30 they post the multiple choice answers on the class webpage. You turn in the scantron, but get to keep the actual test itself, so you just circle the answers you choose on the test, and then check em when you get back to your room afterwards. So that 71 is my grade, wihtout the free-response added in.
