Today is the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I read his autobiography almost every chance that I get. I know that the school/American system would like for us to just remember the "I Have A Dream" speech in Washington, D.C., and his assassination as if they were sequential in time; but, I would hope that Black people would really listen to his last five speeches. Read "A Call to Conscience: Landmark Speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr" really read his autobiography. People, esp conservatives, Jews, and corporations, use this man's image and words out of context to further their agenda. No other people would allow one of their heroes to used in such a manner.

TALLAHASSEE - Alan Crotzer, the man who spent 24 years in jail for a rape he didn’t commit, will finally get what’s coming to him. The Florida Senate voted Thursday to pay him $1.25 million in compensation.

The House has already acted, so the bill just needs the Governor’s signature - something he’s already said he would do.

It’s been a long wait for the St. Petersburg man. Last year, the Legislature failed to approve the money - forcing him to wait another year.

He was originally convicted in 1982, and had to wait until 2006 for DNA evidence to clear his name.

Crotzer is also eligible for a free state education - something he says he plans to take advantage of.

April 04, 2008. ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - The liquid packed in an Air Jamaica passenger's suitcase could have caused a disastrous explosion if it had ignited in mid-air, an FBI agent said on Thursday at a hearing for a man charged with trying to take bomb parts on a plane.

"If the appropriate heat source was introduced, absolutely" the nitromethane could have ignited, FBI agent Kelly Boaz testified at a hearing for Kevin Brown.

The 32-year-old Jamaican man was arrested at Orlando International Airport on Tuesday as he prepared to check his luggage for a flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The FBI said the suitcase contained two galvanized pipes, end caps with holes drilled in them, two prescription bottles containing air gun pellets, a model rocket igniter, batteries, lighters, lighter fluid and two plastic vodka bottles of nitromethane, a liquid used as an industrial solvent and race car fuel.

Assistant U.S. Public Defender Clarence Counts argued that the liquid and other bomb components, which Boaz acknowledged were unassembled and packaged separately, did not endanger the flight.

"None of these items, your honor, were packaged in such a way that they would explode," Counts argued. "We did not have a bomb."

U.S. Magistrate Karla Spaulding sided with prosecutors and let stand the charge against Brown of attempting to put an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft.

Brown was returned to the Seminole County Jail where he is being held without bond because Counts, without explanation, waived the scheduled bond hearing.

DRIVING WHILE BLACK??????!!!!!!!!?????

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A 10-year-old racial profiling lawsuit known as the “Driving While Black” case was resolved Wednesday after Maryland officials approved a $400,000 settlement for the six remaining plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs will receive $20,000 each, and $180,000 will go toward legal fees. Another $100,000 will pay for an independent consultant to advise the Maryland State Police on how well policy changes have worked.

Lt. William Berry, a plaintiff who was pulled over on Interstate 95 in 1996, said he hoped the settlement and its stipulations will send a message that racial profiling won’t be tolerated.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Berry, a member of the North Carolina National Guard. “I think it’s wonderful. I look forward to a number of the things that they have agreed to.”

Reggie Shuford, a senior staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union’s Racial Justice Program, said the settlement “presents a model for how to seriously deal with an issue of this nature.”

“All eyes were on Maryland — and have been on Maryland — since this case was filed ten years ago, and Maryland has stepped up and done the right thing,” Shuford said.

Maryland’s Board of Public Works, which includes Gov. Martin O’Malley, Treasurer Nancy Kopp and Comptroller Peter Franchot, approved the settlement.

“We believe it represents a reasonable resolution of remaining claims,” David Moore, an assistant attorney general, told the board.

Martin Price, an attorney who has been working on the case since 2003, said the stipulation about the consultant “is the part of the settlement that really has teeth.” The consultant will make recommendations to the state police superintendent.

“It provides great relief, not only for our clients, but more importantly for the citizens of Maryland at large,” Price said.

The case was filed by the ACLU, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and several black motorists in 1998, alleging that troopers used race to determine when to stop drivers and sometimes searched their cars illegally. A ruling by a federal judge eliminated the NAACP and some of the motorists as plaintiffs.

The settlement includes a joint statement by the parties that emphasizes the importance of taking preventive steps against racial profiling. A mediated forum will be held with plaintiffs, state police officials and representatives from the state attorney general’s office. The settlement also stipulates that state police will make training materials and orders relating to a 2003 consent decree available to the plaintiffs.

The consent decree required state police to make changes aimed at preventing troopers from pulling people over because of their race, including the installation of cameras in police cars.

State police have not admitted engaging in racial profiling in either one of the agreements. But Shuford said the settlement announced Wednesday indicated that all parties are taking the matter seriously.

“I think it signifies that the Maryland State Police took very seriously their obligations to the plaintiffs,” Shuford said.

A trial had been scheduled in May, but all remaining counts will be dismissed.

“This is the end of the case,” Moore said.

TALLAHASSEE - Alan Crotzer, the man who spent 24 years in jail for a rape he didn’t commit, will finally get what’s coming to him. The Florida Senate voted Thursday to pay him $1.25 million in compensation.

I went back to Best buy yesterday afterwork and Gess what.. I found AZ right where it should have been 2 days before.. I was gonna go in and asked for the Manager Like Boss up said but there it was.. Funny thing there was this dude standin right over it too.. I was looking like if he pick it up we gonna have to bax or thumb wrestle or something...lmao.. So I open it on the way to the car lke I usually do.. And I look @ the price and it's $14.99 or 13.99 and I'm like damn... So I turn it over and there are only 12 tracks.. So i'm thinking to myself that's more than a Dollar a song.. i don't usually do that unless it's one of my personal favorites (I used to like AZ back in the day..But I hadn't checked him out since the turn of the century).. So I pop it in and it starts with what sounds to be an Intro.. So now I'm like hell naw you got 12 songs and one is an intro???? I just got Got.. Then the beat comes in.... WOW I have to say that I am way more than satisfied with this album... # 2 is the joint.. It's definately worth the purschase.. Sad thing is he's indie so they only shipped like one copy to every best buy..... But Copp That... It's a banger... Also Boss Up i know why he had Ray-J on that hook.. Because Ray-J is Indie aswell.. Most Indie acts don't ft. peeps with major deals... Unless you're Fat Joe and Trying to Buy yourself Platinum with big Ft's..

Aight, so y'all ready to hear what exactly went down yesterday?

She called last night, and asked what was wrong, because somehow she could tell something was up.
I thought about how to word it, and then went into how I was sick of how she seems to be playing me by talking about this other guy when she knows how she felt about me, and then continued on to tell her about how I had decided I needed to talk to her about that, then talked to some friends about the situation b/c I wasn't sure how to bring it up to her.
She admitted that she liked the guy, but said she wasn't sure if a relationship would actually come out of it, and also said "But that's the kind of thing I talk about with my best friend!" So I said it was her decision, but told her that if she continued talking to me about him like that, I would move on.
She said she was really mad at me, but that was the extent of it.

Then about 10 minutes later, she called again and told me she was pissed at me for bringing the situation up to friends, and that she didnt want to even be friends anymore, so it was over.
I got all upset at that, and obviously she could tell, because she called again about 20 minutes later and talked to me and stuff, but still said she didn't want to be friends anymore, so I said okay, I accept that, and that I wished her all the best.

But then she posted a bulletin on myspace saying how she had just went from caring a lot about somebody to hating them in about 2.5 seconds, and then said "you talk to your friends about me, and have them make your decision for you," even though I told her it was MY decision, and that the friends simply gave their opinions, and helped me get to the point where I felt comfortable telling her.

She then called about 10 minutes after I went to bed, but I didn't answer. I mean, if we're not going to be friends, then I don't want to talk to her. What's the point? There would be none. So if she calls again, I'm not answering. If she decides to give me another chance, she can leave a voicemail, and I'll have to decide if I want to accept that, although right now I'm leaning towards being done no matter what.

I was definitely hurting a lot last night, and I still am somewhat, but I'm also feeling better. It definitely sucked, and I basically had my heart broken, but it's better that way than it happening after we got into a relationship and all that.

I can say without a doubt that I learned a lot from this situation, that's for sure, so there was a plus out of it.

Right now I just feel like Ya Boy's track "What Can I do" from Optimus Rime:
"What can I do? I move on."

Simple as that.
And like Cassidy said on "All by Myself" from BARS:
"I don't need nobody else, but me... and God."

Looking forward to this weekend, b/c I'm going to a pool party tomorrow afternoon that a friend is hosting, and she has tons of cute girl friends!

Being from jersey I say this I wasnt feelin them dudes from down south until i joined the Army and the dudes on the bblock back home rarely was playin it until Cash Money...

Its how we came up i mean hip hop was born in the east NY but it evolved and i guess some cats feel l ike hey the east started it. However a true artist will embrace what each area has to offer and appreicatte it for what it is..

in the end of the day everything comming out the east aint hot and everything comming from the south aint fire good music is good music a true artist and fan knows that .. i learned that you have to be open to other sounds to have a real good sound of your own!

I saw this dude pull out a cutlass (machete as americans say - lol) but he was just standing there, waiting, Bounty stops the music, tells the people to chill with the fuckry after 2 mins of fighting, the DJ dropped dis riddim and the crowd went crazy - Fight over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aint nuttin better than a good jamaican party in jamaica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This might not be important to nobody else, but something I just noticed. Me & college almost-dropout was plotting on todays lunch mission... normally I get their Green Tea w/ Honey but today I was feeling the sweet tea (in the white can)

Know how you tend to read shit while you're eating? Don't front~ same way you use to read the back of the cereal box on Saturday morning back in the day....

Why is the can labeled "Arizona Southern Style Sweet Tea" and in the background, theres a picture of a plantation w/ a white woman on the porch... and what looks like a woman in an Aunt Jermima-style dress in the field??? Since when did slavery become marketable??

And its not like Im having a "weed moment" (analyzing everything)... Im @ work feeling conflicted as a mutha....
