Let me explain. I was living in South Osetia (it's on the border between Russia and Georgia) for all my life. The problem is pretty simple: we want separation from Georgia! Just like Kosovo wanted separation from Serbia. But the Georgian government don't let us do it that's why for the last 3 months georgian troops were shooting at us, our houses, out kids.
I had to move from my home where I spent all my life because of it. So we asked Russia for help and now we have russian peacemakers in there to prevent any attacks from Georgia. That's the deal.
You listen to the news on TV and Internet but you don't get a real picture of what is going on. DON'T BELIEVE MEDIA!

You bring up some good points. Not sure if the United States wants it with a Socialist country. To be a member of the EU, You have to be Socialist (Not that they'd teach that in American schools) Georgia, the Ukraine, and thoes Baltic countries did piss off Russa, but I can't see it starting there. I can see it starting in the Middle east or in Africa. Mommar Kadafi (excuse the typo) is running around Africa tryin to get the African Union started. I can see that happening. The reason I think the Russian conflict is more likely to cause the 3rd war is because Russia is a big powerful country that has had many issues with the US in the past over the Democracy vs Socialism issue. US and Russia having tension is large enough to affect the entire world, and draw everybody in. And if it becomes a battle betweem Democracy vs Communism/ Socialism. Well that type of beef might bring other countries opinions in (China to be exact)

thats just an educated guess though.

This situation can certainly very easily escalate. Especially with a president who isnt very good with diplomacy and has a itchy trigger finger.
