“I feel like we sometimes let our emotions and anger get in the way,” said Jackson. “Yeah, those [stories of shootings] upset me. Yeah, all those things I see make me angry. But I know everything that I do is going to be more powerful and touch more people in a positive way than if I go out there and cause havoc.”

Jackson is currently working on the follow-up to his latest project In My Feelings. The Indiana native will also appear in season 2 of the drama series American Crime alongside Andre “3000” Benjamin, Regina King, Tim Hutton, and Felicity Huffman.

“I’m blessed and thankful to be able to show people I don’t just act for whatever reason. I act because I really enjoy it. Just like I enjoy my music,” Jackson relayed to AllHipHop.com in September. “I feel like people will take me seriously as an actor. I want to be able to use all that I was given while I’m here on Earth.”

American Crime season 2 is scheduled to premiere January 6 on ABC. Purchase Trevor Jackson’s In My Feelings on iTunes.
