New Documentary On Hip-Hop

Director Peter Spirer has announced he is releasing a

new documentary that features some of Hip-Hop’s biggest

acts, including Nas, Jay-Z and Q-Tip. The forthcoming

documentary, is titled East Coast Mix 1 and will be available

on the DVD/VHS format.

The documentary

interviews artists, as they explain what Hip-Hop means

to them. Among the video highlights is Nas and his brother

leading viewers on a tour through their old stomping grounds,

the Queensbridge Housing Projects. Nas relates stories

about growing up, the death of his friend Ill Will and

his success as a recording artist.

Jay-Z talks

about his rise to prominence from his recording studio

and speaks on his influence on Hip-Hop music.

Spirer is

not new to Hip-Hop music. He directed 1997’s classic,

Rhyme And Reason for Miramax. Rhyme And Reason followed

the rise of Rap music, from the streets in the Bronx to

the Boardrooms. Rhyme And Reason has interviews with such

artists as Heavy D, The Fugees, Ice-T, The Notorious B.I.G.

and Salt-N-Pepa.

East Coast

Mix is scheduled to br released July 2nd.
