The 3rd annual New York

City Hip-Hop Theater Festival

will take off June 18th-29th. Produced

by Danny Hoch’s Caseroc Productions and Hip-Hop Theater Junction, the festival

will feature some of hip-hop’s brightest actors, playwriters, performers and

dancers. Taking place at PS 122 and The Nuyorican Poets Cafe, the festival will

showcase 20 plays and over 30 performances.

Described as theater that incorporates one of

the four original elements of hip-hop (breaking, graffiti, deejaying and emceeing),

the performances deal with issues that affect the hip-hop generation, which

the producers say are the 12-40 year olds. "It’s an injustice that the

stories of this generation are not promoted and allowed to be on stage like

these other ones are," Hoch told the Associated Press.
