Police say rapper Mystikal videotaped portions of an alleged rape of a 40-year-old, even though his counsel maintained his innocence, according to MTV news. Authorities seized the tape after finding it in a safe within the rapper’s Louisiana home.

The tape has which has been placed in police custody as evidence said Cpl. Mary Ann Godawa, a spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Mystikal was arrested early Thursday morning along with two men and accused of raping and extorting a 40-year-old woman, police said. According to police, the woman cashed checks written to her from the rapper’s account without his permission. Mystikal allegedly offered not to press charges if he could have sex with her instead.

On July 3, reports said the woman went to the rapper’s Baton Rogue home to braid his hair when she was told to “get into the bedroom and take your clothes off.”

The rapper then called his associates, Leland Ellis and Vercy Carter, and told them to come over to the house. Reports said that Mystikal commanded Ellis to tape the rapper having sex with the 40-year-old hairstylist, but, while the camera was turned off, he raped and sodomized her.

When video recording proceeded, the woman was then reportedly seen having sex with Carter and Ellis.

On July 4, authorities say, the women reported the alleged rape to the police. Attorneys for Mystikal then forwarded a signed affidavit, which the women signed, stating that she consented to the sex with the three men.

According to the report, the women signed the affidavit that was given to her from the lawyer Gary Harvey, in a state of confusion

Harvey’s co-counsel Michael Guy said via a statement, “I am extremely confident that [Mystikal] will be exonerated of all charges that are currently pending against him.”

Mystikal was released on $250, 000 bond and faces a mandatory life sentence in jail if convicted on the charge of aggravated rap. The extortion charges carry a maximum sentence of 15 years.

At press time, bond was not set for Leland Ellis and Vercy Carter.

Neither Mystikal nor Jive Records commented on the case.
