Indie hip-hop label Babygrande Records has inked

a multi-year distribution with Koch Entertainment. The label was founded by

Chuck Wilson, the former A&R executive at Priority Records. Babygrande is

preparing to release albums by Jedi Mind Tricks, The Mountain Brothers and Canibus.

"While most major labels are downsizing

and consolidating, Koch is enjoying astonishing growth," Wilson told AllHipHop.com.

"We are delighted to have them as our distribution partner and look forward

to releasing real hip-hop."

Wilson is also behind an upcoming the upcoming

MGM urban comedy, "Soul Plane." The movie is described as as an urban

version of "Airplane." Wilson says he plans to create a "unique

conceptual connectivity between music and movies, with soundtracks to be released

on Babygrande."

"We don’t have the quarterly financial pressures

that major labels face and we don’t have to rely on the traditional, over-priced

marketing and promotion tools to sell records which is the essence of being

independent," Wilson continued. "This gives our roster of uniquely

talented artists extraordinary freedom and the potential for far greater economic

returns."
