Rudy Ray Moore, best known as Dolemite , is on a mission to help a Los Angeles based non-profit charity dedicated to helping locals. He has signed on as the pitchman for “From The Bottom Up Foundation” and will kick off the 1st Annual Rudy Ray Moore Celebrity Roast Benefit where Moore will be roasted.

This celebration, “Roasting The Roaster,” will be a star-studded comedy and video show that will be filmed for cable television broadcast. All proceeds from this event will benefit the foundation, which in turn, provides support for local charities, community outreach and self help programs, and direct family aid for local families in serious financial need.

CEO of “From The Bottom Up Foundation” R. Barrett told AllHipHop.com, “We take care of our own, ‘From The Bottom Up.’ That’s why we have enlisted the services of a real survivor, a true urban success story, Mr. Rudy Ray Moore.”

Rudy Ray Moore rose from poverty to become one of the most recognizable and sampled actors of our time. An early innovator and entrepreneur, he financed most of his own films. His Dolemite character is now known around the world. His comedy material continues to be borrowed from by some of the biggest names, and many rappers, including Snoop Dogg, consider him a hero. His DVD box sets & stand up comedy routines have been reintroduced to a new hip-hop generation.

The event will take place at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2002 at The Knitting Factory, located at 7021 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood. For ticket information call The Knitting Factory ticket line at 323.463.0204. For group sells or sponsorship information call 323.294.1514.

In related news, LL has signed on the remake the 1975 blaxploitation flick, “Dolemite.” LL will play Dolemite as a nightclub owner, who ends up in prison when a rival plants drugs in his nightclub. When he is released from prison, he finds his rival doing the dealing out of his old club. In LL’s version, he will have 3 female bodyguards to help him in his effort to rid the town of the drug dealers. Last year, four studios competed for the rights to remake the “Dolemite” movie and movie studio Dimension won those rights. Rudy Ray Moore will make a cameo appearance in the remake.
