Brazilian rapper Sabotage, 29, was shot to death

in Sao Paulo, Brazil yesterday morning (Jan. 24). Sabotage, whose real name

is Mauro Mateus dos Santos, was shot in the head and chest four times as he

returned home from a party.

Police found a ski mask near the crime scene,

but have no suspects in the shooting. Sabotage hailed from the crime ridden

slums of Sao Paulo and found fame after acting in and recording the soundtrack

to the critically acclaimed film "The Trespasser (‘O Invasor’). The movie

focused on the rift between the ghetto and corruption in the "respectable"

world.

Sabotage and DJ Gonzales participated on group

Sepultura’s Revolusongs EP, recording a cover of Public Enemy’s "Black

Steel In The Hour Of Chaos," which was released last December in Brazil.

We’re all very saddened by the killing of Sabotage,"

the band told AllHipHop.com in a statement. We would like to give our condolences

to his family. It was a great pleasure and unforgettable experience for all

of us to be able to work with such a talented human being. May he always be

remembered and let us all always strive for peace in the world."

Santos was preparing to travel to the World Social

Forum in Porto Alegre, where 100,000 activists are expected to show up to protest

cooperate globalization.

The rapper was preparing material for his third

album. He is survived by a wife and three children.
