Released today (May 1) from a New York State facility, Old Dirty Bastard (known now as Dirt

McGirt) announced that he has signed to Roc-A-Fella Records. At a press

conference in Manhattan ODB said, ”I’m happy to be here. I thought I wasn’t gonna

be able to touch another microphone. I’m happy my eyes are still open.”

Mariah Carey also appeared to show her support of ODB.

Roc-A-Fella CEO Dame Dash said that he was excited by the prospect of working with Dirty and felt this was going to be a huge business opportunity for both parties.

“I think what you are witnessing is an evolution of an empire…and now its time to evolve,” Dash stated. “Its time to do bigger things and touch everyone. Any opportunity I see, when I see a good person, when I see someone as talented, that’s about their business, I could care less about what everybody else says about them. That’s why I have choosen to get with Ol Dirty Bastard.”

Ol’ Dirty was already donned in his own clothing line and helpers passed out “Dirt McGirt” t-shirts to attendees.

“I’m happen to be here,” he said with his mother, Cherry Jones, by his side. “I’m looking forward to a future with Roc-A-Fella.
