Murphy Lee of Nelly’s St. Lunatics was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after police claim they stumbled on almost 35 grams of marijuana in the rapper’s Mercedes Benz, according to published reports.

Police say they found the marijuana after stopping Lee, 22, for an expired license plate Oct. 31 on Interstate 55 south of St. Louis, Missouri. According to reports, police authorities smelled marijuana in Lee’s car, and then arrested him for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs.

Lee’s attorney Scott Rosenblum declined comment on the charges Monday (Nov. 8), but he told the Associated Press that Lee will plead not guilty during a court appearance next month.

Lee, born Tohri Harper, is a member of the original St. Lunatics, comprised of rappers Ali, City Spud, Kyjuan and multi-platinum rapper Nelly, all hailing from St. Louis.

Lee’s debut album Murphy’s Law, featuring his hit  "Wat Da Hook Gon Be” with Jermaine Dupri, was released last year on Universal Records and hit gold status.

Lee shared a 2004 Grammy for best rap performance by a duo/group for his collaboration with Nelly and Sean “P. Diddy: Combs in "Shake Ya Tailfeather" on the Bad Boys 2 Soundtrack.
