Russell Simmons’ HSAN Commends 50 Cent And Game

The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network has commended 50 Cent and The Game for peacefully resolving their much-publicized beef at a press conference Wednesday (March 9) in New York City.

The two rappers had been dueling back and forth ever since 50 Cent kicked game out of his G-Unit rap crew during an interview on New York’s Hot 97, citing disloyalty as his motive.

“I witnessed the reconciliation between 50 Cent and The Game. It was genuine and sincere,” Russell Simmons, Chairman of the HSAN, said in a statement. “Our prayer is that others will learn from the positive example that 50 and The Game have set to reconcile peacefully and, at the same time, give back to the community in a significant way.”

During the press conference, 50 announced the launch his new G-Unity Foundation. Both rappers also made large donations to the Boys Choir of Harlem and the Compton Unified School District Music Program. Simmons was on hand when the truce was announced to the public.

Referring to various media organizations calling the rappers’ brief internal disputes a “rap war,” HSAN stated that those outside of Hip-Hop tend to misinterpret the lifestyle.

“The reconciliation between 50 and The Game is not an exception to the rule, but part of the normative tradition of Hip-Hop culture,” said Dr Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of HSAN. “Excellence and competition serve the ends of being creative and working simultaneously toward the empowerment of the community.”
