Eminem and Showtime

Networks have locked horns in court, as the pay network is suing the multi-platinum

rapper. The network is suing Shady Touring and Eminem himself, claiming they negotiated

with the rapper for two years to try to set up a live concert on one of Showtime’s

pay channels. The network claims that Em’s inability to have a firm release

date and his tour schedule prevented negotiations from taking place.

Fuse network will launch a new daily music show, Hip-Hop Confidential.

The new show is hosted by Fuse VJ Marianela and will feature the latest videos

in Hip-Hop from both the majors and independent labels. Hip-Hop Confidential

will air Monday-Friday from 8:30-9PM ET. The show premieres June 6.

Snoop Dogg, Mos Def and Fat Joe have signed on to perform at

AmsterJam, a day-long music festival being billed as “the biggest Mash-Up

concert ever held.” The concert is set to take place August 20 on New

York’s Randall Island and will also feature The Red Hot Chili Peppers,

311, Garbage and others. Additionally, an Amsterdam themed village will be constructed

on the island. Tickets for the event go on sale June 3.

The urban film

market will continue having a recognizable voice in Hollywood, thanks to the

likes of producer John Davis and Filmmaker Dallas Jackson, according to Variety.

With the success of Davis’ “Daddy Day Care” and “Fat

Albert,” he plans to launch a new wing of Davis Entertainment, dedicated

to urban family films, already lined with a string of offerings from Jackson.

Jackson will serve as the head of the DJ Cassicz label, and recently penned

and produced the independent film “Uncle P.” The project was acquired

by Beacon Films and stars media mogul Master P and son Lil’ Romeo. Jackson’s

screenplay “Romeo and Juliet,” a film geared towards the popular

and profitable adolescent market, is set to star Lil’ Romeo. The film

is in development with MGM in conjunction with Katia Lund, co-director of the

Oscar-nominated “City of God.”
