The Mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota

has been declared August 19-21 a “Hip-Hop weekend,” complete with

performances from Slick Rick, Slum Village and others.

The 4th Annual Twin Cities Celebration of Hip-Hop celebrates the power of community

through Hip-Hop culture and education.

The theme this year is “Be Healthy” and workshops, MC’s, DJ’s,

Breakdancers, Beatboxers and a special low rider car show are taking place over

the weekend.

The festival is co-presented by YO! The organization is a youth run, youth

led, non-profit dedicated to youth leadership and development.

According to organizers, over 10,000 worldwide have attended the celebrations

and this year even more are expected to support. Other acts on the bill include

The C.O.R.E, Doomtree, Asia One, Illuminous 3 and Knowledge MC.

The three-day festival was declared a “Hip-Hop Weekend” by Mayor

R.T. Rybak of Minneapolis. The event will also have AIDS testing and Voter registration

booths.

The event takes place at the Historic First Avenue Nightclub and Grounds in

Minneapolis, Minnesota August 19-21.
