Fatlip, formerly

of pioneering Hip-Hop group The Pharcyde, is preparing to release his long awaited

album, Thelonliest Punk. The album will feature Fatlip delivering tales

of his post-Pharcyde life, since his split from the group almost five years

ago. The album will drop on Delicious Vinyl, the label that released The Pharcyde’s

influential albums Bizarre Ride to the Pharcyde and Labcabincalifornia.

The Spike Jonez directed documentary "What’s Up Fatlip?" is also included

as a bonus and features a visual look at his life after Pharcyde. *Tour dates

Rapper Bow Wow

has signed on to star in the third installment of the “Fast and Furious”

movie franchise. “Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo” stars the 18-year-old

rapper living with a military uncle in a poor section of the city, only to be

lured into the underworld of drag racing. In related news, the rapper turned

down a reprising role in the sequel to “Like Mike.” The character

Calvin Cambridge will be played by Josh Washington. The sequel co-stars Kel

Mitchell, Michael Beach and Monica Delain.

Rapper Loose Cannon

is preparing his debut album Who Do You Think You Are. Fans will remember

the Unsigned Hype alumni from his multiple appearances on DMX’s albums

It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and The Great Depression. The first

single from the album is "Take It Off" featuring Terror Squad members

Fat Joe and Tony Sunshine. Who Do You Think You Are hits stores on

Australian label

owner and emcee Rafael “Raph” Rashid and Gingko Press have teamed

to put out “Behind the Beat,” a book documenting Hip-Hop’s most

talented DJ’s and producers in their most creative space, the home recording

studio. Featured are the studios and equipment of some of the most influential

music creators working today including: DJ Premier, Madlib, J Dilla, DJ Spinna,

E- Swift, Beyond Kut Masta Kurt, Beatminerz, DJ Shadow, Dan the Automator, Chief

Xcel, J Zone and others. Along with the release of the book, there will be a

CD with tracks from artists MF DOOM, J Dilla & Roc C., Grip Grand, DJ Design

and others. “Behind the Beat” is scheduled to hit shelves in November.
