Rapper DMX was supposed to appear in court yesterday (June 16) in White Plains, New York, but missed the court date due to a prior engagement.
DMX, born Earl Simmons, was given a one-week extension by presiding Judge Joanne Friia on Wednesday (June 14).
The request came from DMX’s attorney Murray Richman, who asked for and was granted the extra time prior to DMX’s scheduled date on Wedneday.
DMX was stopped in White Plains for driving erratically on June 2.
Police said he cut another motorist off and was speeding in his 2001 Chevy Suburban.
He told police he was in a “big hurry” and he was subsequently charged with a misdemeanor charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The rapper was also charged with seat belt and unsafe lane change violations.
According to police, DMX’s New York license has been suspended since April because he failed to appear in court in Queens for unrelated charges.
Simmons is now due in court June 21 to face the White Plains charges.
He is also due in court in Harrison, New York on July 21 to answer a summons for driving on the shoulder of the road, which resulted in a minor collision with another vehicle, just 9 days after the White Plains incident.
In that incident, DMX was struck by another vehicle while he attempted to re-enter traffic on the Hutchinson River Parkway in his 2006 Chevy Suburban.
