Def has been selected to join an all-star cast for a new comedy called Be Kind

Rewind, which will begin shooting in early September and is scheduled to release

in 2007.In

the New Line Cinema film, the Brooklyn-born emcee plays a video store employee

who has to deal with a mischievous customer named Jerry (played byJack Black),

who manages to erase all the video tapes in the store, after he becomes accidentally

magnetized while trying to sabotage a local power plant.The

film also stars Danny Glover, Mia Farrow and Melonie Diaz.The

rapper-turned-actor was also recently cast in HBO’s Little Scarlet, a film

based on Walter Mosley’s 2004 novel of the same name.The

plot revolves around a j named anitor Ezikeal "Easy" Rawlins who helps

solve in a murder after the 1965 riots in Los Angeles. Mos

Def has previously given performances in The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,

16 Blocks and the HBO films’ Something the Lord Made.In

other news, Mos Def is also currently preparing for the release his third solo

album, True Magic. The album, which is a follow up to The New Danger,is

slated for release on Geffen Records on September 26th.
