personality and actress Melyssa Ford has joined Sirius Satellite Radio as an on-air
host. Ford will be a host on Sirius’ commercial free R&B/Hip-Hop station,
Hot Jamz, channel 50. Ford’s first day on the air starts Monday, Jan. 15 and her
show will air from 12-6 pm EST. Ford has graced the pages of magazines like XXL,
Maxim and Black Men’s Magazine. She has also been featured
in videos by Jay-Z, Mystikal, Jadakiss, R. Kelly and others. TJ’s
DJ’s has announced the date of their quarterly Tastemakers Only DJ/Music Conference.
The event will take place Jan. 31 at The Moon, which is located in Tallahassee,
Florida. Over 1,000 DJ’s, artists, models and industry figures gather during the
Tastemakers conference, which was founded by TJ’s DJ’s CEO and founder, TJ Chapman.

Rhymes and his body guard Troy Green were recently found liable for beating up
a 37-year-old fan named Melvin Smith outside of the Corner Gourmet II deli in
lower Manhattan in 2005. According to reports, Rhymes, 34, was ordered to pay
Smith $100,000 for assaulting him, after he asked Rhymes for an autograph on the
street, near City Hall. The victim suffered “serious bodily injuries”
including a cut on his eye that required four stitches. "My client was not
aggressive in seeking the autograph," Smith’s lawyer said in previous reports.
"Melvin went in to get an autograph and got a knuckle sandwich instead."
In related news, Busta Rhymes was booked on a misdemeanor assault charge last
week, stemming from a Dec. 26 incident in which Rhymes allegedly assaulted Eddie
Hatchett, 39. Hatchett was seeking back pay when Rhymes and his bodyguards alleged
attacked him. Rhymes has denied the latest allegations.BET
will air its season finale of American Gangster this Tuesday at 10 p.m.
EST. The final episode features Detroit’s notorious drug family, the Chamber
Brothers. The network’s documentary-style show chronicles the lives and crimes
of infamous African-American gangsters. The show has already profiled such infamous
characters as Stanley “Tookie” Williams, Leroy “Nicky” Barnes,
“Freeway Ricky” Ross, Lorenzo "Fat Cat" Nichols, and Troy
and Dino Smith. An estimated 1.3 million viewers watched the first episode profiling
Los Angeles Crips gang co-founder “Tookie” Williams and the series is
now the #1 original series in BET’s history.
