Producer 9th Wonder

has departed from North Carolina Hip-Hop group Little Brother. According to published

reports, the split between the producer and the remaining group was amicable.

The split was due to a nonexistent relationship with Atlantic Records’ A&R

and creative differences within the group. Remaining group members Pooh and Phonte

are working on their third album Get Back, which is slated to hit stores

later this year. The album features production from the Alchemist, Just Blaze,

DJ Premiere and others. Managment for the group stated that they were unhappy

with their deal with Atlantic and that Get Back would most likely be the

last release with Atlantic Records. In related news, producer 9th Wonder has launched

The True School Corporation. According to 9th Wonder, the company produces a traveling

party in different cities that feature Hip-Hop music and images circa 1980-1995.

The

American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education’s will host its 59th Annual

Meeting & Exhibits in New York City on Feb. 26 and Hip-Hop culture will be

a focus during an educational forum. Hip-Hop authors artists and activists, as

well as the general public will convene for an educational seminar titled "Exploring

the Use of Hip-Hop as an Innovative and Culturally Relevant Pedagogical Resource."

The forum will examine the history of Hip-Hop and its impact on education today.

Actor and political strategist Jason Parker (The Wire), author and speaker

Bakari Kitwana, Dr. Tricia Rose, a professor of Africana Studies at Brown University

and rapper Gabriel “Asheru” Benn will be featured panelists during the

event, which takes place from 3:45 pm- 5:15 PM at the Hilton New York.Sweden-based

global Furniture giant Ikea is supporting Hip-Hop with a new contest taking place

in Australia. The company is holding a competition between Australian children

aged nine-16, in an attempt to find the best rap song containing the words school

and Ikea. The contest, which runs until Feb. 11, will be narrowed down to five

finalists, who will perform in an Ikea store in Australia, with the winner receiving

the grand prize of an ACER Aspire laptop computer. For more information visit

group Tha Dogg Pound announced that they will release Dogg Chit, the follow

up to their 2006 reunion album Cali Is Active. The album features guests

appearances from The Game, RBX, Jayo Felony, Brother Lynch Hung and Too $hort,

who is featured on the first single "Vibe With a Pimp." "We got

a new album coming out March 27th, first Dogg Pound album entirely produced by

us since Dogg Food," Daz Dillinger said. "We doin’ it again,
