A popular disc jockey in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area died suddenly last night, at the age of 38.

Shawn “Mic Lord” Austin, a personality on Hip-Hop station 103 Jamz, died from unknown causes, according to local reports.

Austin was widely known as one-half of the Boodah Brothers, a humorous on-air team at the Virginia radio station.

Those that knew and appreciated Austin were in mourning.

“His given name was Shawn Austin but we all knew him as Mic Lord. He’s a fun loving guy that was always trying to bring fun to any situation. He had a big laugh and raspy voice so you knew him right away,” said 103 Jamz Urban Programming Director Eric Mychaels to WAVY Channel 10 of Virginia.

Austin, a New Jersey native, became a part of the Boodah Brothers morning show in 2004 for his ability to tell jokes and his rapping skills.

“Words can not express our shock and greif at this moment. I know how many of you love Mic Lord so I know this is painful to you as well. Right now we ask that you pray for Mic’s Mother Juanita, his girlfriend Kita and his sons Bam and Dante, said co-host Pavar Snipe in a statement.

Austin co-hosted the highly rated show with Snipe, DJ Law and Big B. 103 Jamz is planning another ode to Austin in addition to one that played today (Feb 1).
