This
week, DJ’s from across the country will flock to Miami for The Core DJ’s
Retreat, an event that is recognized as one of the premier events for DJ’s.
Presented
by Atlantic Records, The Core DJ’s Retreat is taking place from March 14-March
17 and will include a number of daily events for participants. Events
will include several album listening sessions, a movie screening, an awards show,
and plenty of other events for networking. Closing
the event this Saturday [March 17] will be The Core DJ’s Awards Show which
will honor 2 Live Crew, Grandmaster Caz, DJ Laz, DJ Khaled, DJ Irie, and others.
The
Core DJ’s is a coalition founded in 2003 by Tony Neal to empower and educate
fellow DJ’s; The Core DJ’s Retreat, a bi-annual event, is just one way
of doing this. As
the sole DJ coalition in the country The Core DJ’s boasts an extensive membership
that includes some of the country’s most prominent DJ’s. Members
of the Core DJ’s include Big Tigger, DJ Kut, and The Legendary Mixmaster
ICE (UTFO). The
retreat this week will mark the sixth time this event has taken place. Past
retreat locations have included Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, and Houston.
