Interscope Records rapper Rich Boy will give mixed martial arts fans a soundtrack to enjoy when he takes the stage during the much anticipated bout between former UFC middleweight champion Frank Shamrock and UFC and Pride veteran Phil Baroni.

The vacant Strikeforce world middleweight championship will be at stake as the men square off against each other during the event, which is set to take place June 22 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.

Rich Boy’s appearance shows the growing popularity of Hip-Hop within the mixed martial arts world.

Last month, fighters/rappers Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Din Thomas and Houston Alexander, a Hip-Hop DJ on 106.9 in Omaha, Nebraska, all won decisive matches during the UFC 71 card at the MGM arena.

Other scheduled matches at the HP Pavilion include: undefeated world San Shou kickboxing champion and middleweight mixed martial arts contender Cung Le versus “The Freak” Fryklund, 2003 K-1 North America tournament champion Carter Williams against Paul Buentello and EliteXC’s Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett versus Victor “Joe Boxer” Valenzuela and others.

Shamrock vs. Baroni will air live at 10 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. PT on Showtime PPV.
