The Global Mixx Music Retreat 2007 has kicked off another summer music workshop, set to take place in Chicago July 19-23.

 

Hosted by Live Radio, this music industry “how-to” breaks down the do’s and don’ts within the music business, giving managers, artists, and label executives the knowledge they need to have a successful career.

 

Rapper Rhymefest will join industry executives like Wendy Day (Rap Coalitions), TJ Chapman (TJ’s DJ’s), Corey “CL” Llewellyn (Digiwaxx.com), Scrap Dirty (Violator All Star DJ’s) Matt Middleton and others during the third annual DJ retreat, which will be held at the newly renovated Hotel Sax (formerly the House of Blues Hotel) held in Chicago.

 

“This year’s Global Mixx encompasses the best of both worlds: music and technology,” said Global Mixx Founder Mary Datcher.

 

Events during the annual gathering include seminars on “How to Cross-Market Your Music,” “How to Properly Prepare Your Demo for Record Labels,” “Are Mixshows Still Impactful for Breaking New Records?” and “The Platinum ‘Touch:’ Beats, Lyrics, Hooks and Hits.”Artist and label representatives who attended the conference last year included Kanye West, Chris Lighty, Common and PR and A&R executives from Atlantic Records, Def Jam, Bad Boy, Interscope, Jive, J Records and other labels.

 

Along with the seminars, the retreat will include panels, listening sessions, private parties, secret outings, sports activities, exclusive outdoor performances, and more.

 

The Global Mixx Music Retreat begins July 19th and ends July 23rd.
