Miami rapper Trina has renamed her album Da Baddest Chick II and is planning a photo shoot for the upcoming album at various locations throughout the city tomorrow (July 24). The photo shoot will kick off tomorrow at Aperture studios, where Trina will pose for her album, which was originally titled Da Baddest B#### II: Reloaded, named after her 2000 debut Da Baddest B####. Trina will then head to South Pointe Beach, shoot behind nightspot Nikki Beach and wrap up the day with a session at the Bentley Beach Hotel. Da Baddest Chick II is the fourth for Trina, who is signed to Slip-N-Slide. The album is due in stores in September.
Rap mogul Damon Dash recently sold his Los Angeles home and is in the process of looking for a beach front property, according to reports. Dash, 36, sold his 5,800 square foot Spanish villa home in Benedict Canyon for $3.6 million. The house featured views of Los Angeles, a media room, three fire places, a private and other amenities. Sources told AllHipHop.com that Damon Dash sold his Los Angeles property because his businesses are primarily based out of New York. Additionally, Dash is rumored to be negotiating a return to the music industry, as the head of one of the major label’s ailing Urban division.
Hip-Hop Theater Festival creator and theatre pioneer Danny Hoch will premiere a new off-Broadway play, titled Till the Break of Dawn. Presented by The Culture Project, the play will run for a limited eight-week engagement, starting September 4 in New York. The production marks Hoch’s first new work to be presented to a New York audience since 1998. According to a press release, Till the Break of Dawn centers around an internet Hip-Hop activist, who leads a group of New York friends on a trip to Havana to attend a festival. “They’ve always been radical at home, but in Cuba, radical means something else. So does Hip-Hop, and so do they,” the press release reads. “With this play, Danny Hoch brings his considerable genius to the stage as eleven actors portray characters we have grown to know and love,” said Culture Project artistic director, Alan Buchman. “In Till The Break of Dawn, the brash outcry of today’s injustice meets the weathered heroes of yesterday’s resistance movement in, where else, but Cuba?” More information is available at: www.cultureproject.org and www.dannyhoch.com.
