Comedian Dave Chappelle is expanding his knack for finding what’s funny with his latest project, a concert film version of Allah Made Me Funny – The Official Muslim Comedy Tour.

The funnyman is an executive producer on the feature, which features live stand-up performances and a glimpse into the lives of Muslim comics Preacher Moss, Azhar Usman and Mohammed Amer.

Allah Made Me Funny is one of the funniest and most important comedy shows in America today. These guys are pioneers in the world of Muslim comedy and I am proud to be attached to this project,” Chappelle said in a statement.

Since its launch in 2004, Allah Made Me Funny – The Official Muslim Comedy Tour has been featured throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

The outing, which has garnered media coverage and international recognition and praise by cultural and religious organizations globally, was initially created to relieve tensions and serve as a bridge-building tool between Muslims and non-Muslims to address negative stereotypes about the Muslim religion and culture in a post-9/11 world.

Preacher Moss hopes filmgoers will come away from the feature with a smile and an expanded view.

“Comedy gives people of all cultural backgrounds an opportunity to drop their guard and open their minds,” the Allah Made Me Funny tour co-founder and executive producer stated.”Our goal with this film is to make audiences laugh and think.”

In addition to Chappelle, Unity Productions Foundation’s Michael Wolfe and Alex Kronemer will serve as executive producers on Allah Made Me Funny.

The film will be directed by established indie filmmaker and documentarian Andrea Kalin.

Principal photography for Allah Made Me Funny is scheduled for Aug. 24 and 25 at the Heritage Forum in Anaheim, Calif.

A soundtrack for the film is currently being developed as producers work on incorporating an original musical score, ranging from jazz to hip-hop to R&B, with contributions from prominent and independent music artists.
