Prodigy Pleads Guilty, Faces 3 1/2 Years In Prison

PRODIGY PLEADS GUILTY

Rapper Prodigy of Queens, New York based group Mobb Deep, pleaded guilty to gun charges yesterday (October 9).

Prodigy, born Albert Johnson Jr., pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a loaded gun in Manhattan Supreme Court and will spend the next 3-1/2 years in prison.

The rapper went on trial yesterday for the gun possession charges, after police stopped his bulletproof SUV last October for driving the wrong way down a Manhattan street, in an attempt to secure a parking spot.Police found a .22-caliber gun in the armrest of the SUV.

Both Prodigy and producer The Alchemist were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Charges against The Alchemist were later dismissed, but yesterday, Prodigy, 32, admitted to possessing the unlicensed .22-caliber gun.
