Rapper T.I. is expected to appear at the Federal Court House today (March 27) where he will plead guilty to multiple firearms charges.

The Associated Press reports that T.I. and his lawyers have been engaged in intense plea negotiations over the past several weeks.

The 27-year-old rapper will serve around 12 months in prison and will be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service, which consists of speaking to youth groups from around the country.

U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. is expected to review and accept the plea today around 1:30 P.M.

T.I., born Clifford Harris Jr., was charged with illegally possessing three machine guns and two silencers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

T.I. was arrested after he was set up by a bodyguard, who alerted agents with the ATF that he had purchased nine firearms on behalf of the rapper, who is a convicted felon and cannot legally purchase weapons on his own.

The rapper was caught attempting to purchase illegal machine guns and silencers on October 13 2007, from a man who was cooperating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.

T.I. is currently free on $3 million dollars bond, but is under strict house arrest at his Clayton County area mansion.

He is working on his sixth studio album, titled Paper Trail.
