When you have a significant other, it’s always great to be able to sit around with no pressure and be yourself, and that’s exactly what Ne-Yo talks about in “Let’s Just Be.” With a mid-tempo sound that’s mellow and mature, this track reflects Ne-Yo’s own original style. He’s not emulating any of his influences i.e. – Prince or Michael Jackson this time around, which let’s us hear him being himself.

While “Let’s Just Be” surfaced earlier this week via the net, it was only a few weeks ago another new single from Ne-Yo called “Closer” was released, which is said to be his first single off his new album set to drop this summer titled Year of The Gentleman. While “Let’s Just Be” isn’t a confirmed track off the new album, it has the potential to be an album cut that most Ne-Yo fans will enjoy.

In researching “Let’s Just Be,” it’s alleged that Ne-Yo originally wrote this song for an up and coming artist named Miguel Jontel, making it even more questionable if this song will be part of his new album. Either way, I heard the Miguel Jontel version, and I have to admit Ne-Yo sings it better! And while “Closer” isn’t exactly what I expected for a first single from Ne-Yo, “Let’s Just Be” is more my speed and I can’t wait to see what else Year of The Gentleman has to offer.
