Boxing star Floyd Mayweather has been tapped to serve as the honorary starter of the 92nd Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 25.
The world champion boxing star and former G-Unit affiliate will wave the green flag to start the race, which will feature 33 drivers on the 2.5 mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) oval track.
Mayweather will launch the race, which is the single largest attended sporting event in the world, with an estimated 400,000 people expected to attend.
To be asked to wave the green flag at the Indianapolis 500 is an incredible honor, Mayweather told AllHipHop.com in a statement. Im extremely excited to be a part of this event and to see the best drivers in the world perform on the biggest stage in all of sports.
For IMS President and COO Joie Chitwood said that Mayweathers flash and flamboyancy was a perfect match for the Indy 500.

Last year Ludacris, John Oates, Alison Sweeney, Tyler Christopher and others were featured in the Indianapolis 500 parade.
The Indianapolis 500 will be broadcast live at 1 p.m. ET on ABC Sports, the IMS Radio Network and XM Satellite Radio.
