This Saturday (August 23) the city of Newark will host the first annual Hip-Hop Business Summit, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship throughout the culture.
Dubbed “Hood Economics,” the summit promises to “encourage entrepreneurship by highlighting business opportunities that exist in the community, providing interactive discussions, sharing personal success stories, and key business tools and information.”
Confirmed guests to assist the summit are: CEO and Founder of AllHipHop.com Greg Watkins, Lance Smith, Walter Briggs, from the NFL, Brevin Knight, Kurt Thomas, Steffond Johnson, from the NBA, actors Michael Kenneth Smith (The Wire), Michael B. Jordan (All My Children, The Wire), and Hip-Hop pioneer Pepa.
The celebrities and local business leaders in attendance will share their success stories with the predominantly young crowd and explain in detail how to construct business plans to launch record labels, restaurants, barbershops, salons, or any other form of business.
Along with the panels there will be give-aways, and a book signing for Pepa’s new autobiography Let’s Talk About Pep.
The Summit will be capped with a VIP White Party at The Spot Lounge on 45 Commerce St. in Newark, NJ.
