Cash Money Records CEO’s Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams are still celebrating, following the 4 Grammy wins of their superstar artist Lil Wayne last night (February 8).

Coming into the night nominated for 8 awards, the New Orleans native snagged half for Best Solo Rap Performance (“A Milli”), Best Rap Song (“Lollipop”), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“Swagga Like Us”), and Best Rap Album (Tha Carter III).

The album award was a special moment for Wayne, who bested stiff competition in the category from Nas (Untitled), T.I. (Paper Trail), Lupe Fiasco (The Cool), and Jay-Z (American Gangster).

For Baby and Slim, Wayne’s success last night was living proof of the perseverance of their brand and sound.

“The Cash Money family is thrilled with Lil Wayne’s triumph at the Grammys,” the CEOs told AllHipHop.com in a prepared statement. “We are an independent label and this recognition is validation of all of our hard work over the last 20 years. To go from selling records out of our cars more than a decade ago to having the number one selling and Grammy winning artist, it is really hard to express how much pride we feel at this moment.”

To date, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III rests at #26 on the Billboard 200 with 3 million sold and the title of best-selling album of 2008.

Last night, the heavily favored album fell short of Album of the Year.

It lost to Raising Sand, the critically acclaimed duet album from former Led Zeppelin member Robert Plant and bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.

Wayne’s next foray will be his risky and ambitious all-rock album, Rebirth, presently set for release on April 7.
