A plea of not guilty was entered Friday (May 15) by rapper/producer Kanye West regarding an alleged altercation last year with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

According to reports, the 31-year-old entertainer’s lawyer, Blair Berk, appeared on behalf of the entertainer, who was not present in court.

West pleaded not guilty to one count of misdemeanor vandalism, one count of battery and one count of grand theft.

Friday’s plea is the latest development in the aftermath of the paparazzi scuffle, which occurred on September 11.

West and his road manager/bodyguard, Don Crawley, were arrested at LAX as they attempted to catch a flight to Honolulu.

The incident with the paparazzi was captured on video as it showed the men wrestling a camera away from a photographer and later smashing the device into the ground.

West was charged with the misdemeanor vandalism, battery and grand theft, while Crawley received two counts for the crimes after allegedly smashing a camera that belonged to another photographer.

Through his lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, Crawley also pleaded not guilty.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for July 15.
