The much hyped Hip Hop Soda Shop in Tampa, Florida has announced it will close it doors, citing the poor economy and real estate issues as the culprit.

According to reps for parent company H3 Enterprises, the company is exploring other opportunities in Tampa Bay in hopes of securing another location to house the restaurant/gaming franchise.

In July of 2008, the company suffered a loss, when CEO Dr. Benjamin Chavis abruptly announced his departure from the franchise.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Warren Sapp was an investor in the Tampa Bay franchise, which opened in December of 2007 and has hosted numerous special events for the local community.

“Our employees, team members, and investors remain our top priority,” the company said in a press release. “H3 appreciates the support of the Tampa Bay community, and hopes to continue its mission even in the face of the severe economic downturn.”
