The rumors swirling around who will be playing the role of “B.A. Baracus” made legendary by Mr. T have been put to rest.

UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been confirmed for the role of B.A. Baracus in the upcoming remake to the popular action TV series The A-Team.

Actors Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson were previously confirmed as cast members in the film, which is being helmed by Joe Carnahan, whose previously directed the hit movie Smokin’ Aces.

Rampage won the role after a year of speculation as to who would land the coveted role made famous by Mr. T., born Laurence “Mr. T.” Tureaud.

Rappers Ice Cube, 50 Cent and The Game were candidates, as well as U.K. weightlifter/bodyguard Tiny Iron.

In July of 2008, Jackson made headlines when he was arrested in Southern California for felony hit and run, after he led officers on a car chase down the wrong side of the street.

Jackson was eventually hospitalized in a mental institution and found to be suffering from depression and dehydration.

No drugs were found in the fighter’s body. Jackson is slated to be sentenced in January of 2010, although it is doubtful that he will receive prison time.

The A-Team is set for a 2010 release.
