The 2009 Southeast Music and Entertainment Summit (SMES) will take

place from September 25-28 in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. The

annual event will be used as an educational tool for aspiring

individuals who have an interest in pursuing careers in the music

entertainment business.

This year’s summit will feature panelists including Wendy Day (Rap

Coalition),    Kawan “KP” Prather (Sr. VP of A&R Def Jam), Orlando

Mcghee (VP of A&R Warner Bros.), Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur

(CEO/founder of AllHipHhop.com), and Grammy award winning producers 9th

Wonder and DJ Toomp.

There will also be performances from regional artists such as Lil Ru,

Sauce, Primo Starr, Lil Brod, Rain and J.Cole; as well as appearances

from featured tastemakers from the region including DJ B. Lord, DJ

Chuck T, radio personality , Chalamange  tha God (formerly of The Wendy

Williams Experience nationally syndicated radio show), DJ Lonnie B, DJ

Law, DJ Frosty, The Niche Carolina Magazine and DJ Skillz.

The SMES conference was established in 2001 by Tony “Chubbz” Marcus and James E. Heyward, to give artist in

non-traditional markets access to the music industry. The weekend-long

summit will include an unsigned artist showcase, various panel

discussins, a producer beat battle and a fashion show.
