Miami’s DJ Khaled has teamed with Poe Boy Records’ founder E-Class to release Live From the 305, a new compilation featuring some of the most popular rappers from the Sunshine state. Rappers like Pitbull, Trick Daddy, Flo Rida, Trina, Ace Hood, Brisco, Mista Mac, Bill Blue and Ball Greezy are featured on the release, which is due in stores on October 13. “For the first time, a compilation represents the whole Miami movement,” Poe Boy’s founder E-Class told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “Live From the 305 includes up and coming underground artists as well as mainstream artists.” The first single from the album is titled “Black Shades” featuring Brisco, Ball Greezy and Billy Blue.

 

Queens, New York rapper 50 Cent is sponsoring a day of Hip-Hop performances on Governors Island this October. 50’s first This is 50 Festival will take place October 3 at The Beach and will feature performances from 50 and G-Unit, Wale, Jim Jones, D-Block, Maino, Kid Cudi and others. The festival is being held in conjunction with Hot 97, AEG Live and LiveNDirect. “With the help of Chris Lighty & Jeremiah ‘Ice’ Younossi we were able to create a festival with one of my personal favorites,” LiveNDirect‘s CEO Peter Oasis said. “Having worked with 50 I truly understand his gift to make noise! Fif is the future and we hope that he’ll do to music festivals what he did to sports drinks – change the game.” T Tickets are on sale at all major ticket outlets for $45.

 

Saigon will participate in a charity event for In Arms Reach to empower children who have parents that were or are incarcerated. The program utilizes arts and music to help the children realized their full potential. In Arms Reach works with City College for the City University of New York and the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. Saigon will host the orientation for the first class of the year and will give an introduction to the course for the year. The program kicks off from 5-7 PM, September 29 at City College in Harlem, New York. In related news, Saigon will be a featured artist on AllHipHop.com’s annual Social Lounge, which takes place October 17 at the NJPAC in Newark, New Jersey. Roc Nation rapper J. Cole has inked a deal with leading urban fashion retailer Jimmy Jazz to star in the “Fresh for Fall” campaign. The rapper will be featured endorsing various apparel and footwear brands for the project, which will be activated in over 80 Jimmy Jazz locations nationwide, including Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio and J. Cole’s home state of North Carolina. J. Cole, who is featured on Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 album, graduated from St. John’s University Magna C## Laude. He will headline the 2009 Southeast Music and Entertainment Summit which takes place this weekend, in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
