(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop veterans Buckshot and Dru Ha are set to reveal the secret to their longevity as independent artists in the recording business. This year marks the 15-year anniversary of Duck Down Music, the pioneering label that has released classic albums by Black Moon, Boot Camp Clik, Heltah Skeltah, Smif-N-Wessun, KRS-One and others. To celebrate their anniversary, Buckshot and Dru Ha are releasing a pamphlet titled The Common Knowlegdy Of the Entertainment Industry which serves to educate readers on the basics of the music business, while explaining common terms often used in the business. The pamphlet consists of three sections comprised of the ‘Basics,’ the ‘Framework’ and ‘How It All Works,’ which ties all of the information together and how it can be put to practical use. I’m doing this because over the course of 15 years Duck Down is still putting out records and expanding our release schedule. The business is changing every day. I’m giving people an understanding of the basic knowledge that I’ve acquired, but the format is up to YOU,” Buckshot told AllHipHop.com.The Common Knowlegdy Of the Entertainment Industry also comes with a 13-track album provided as a download card, which will feature original music Buckshot created on the concepts within the pamphlet. “The order is in your hands, but you must first comprehend the basics,” Buckshot told AllHipHop.com. “Too often artists & even companies/labels try to run before they know how to walk. I can present the rules to this game, but it’s up to YOU to execute.”The Common Knowlegdy of the Entertainment Industry is due in stores this Fall.A cost for the pamphlet/album was not available as of press time, but the release will be sold through Duckdown.com, UGHH.com, iTunes and other digital outlets.
