(AllHipHop News) The cause of death for R&B songstress Teena Marie is still unclear. An autopsy performed on the singing great showed no signs of trauma. According to Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, toxicology tests performed on Marie to determine the cause of death could take about six weeks. In addition, Winter told the Associated Press that no illegal drugs were found at the home in Pasadena where the 54-year-old songbird died. The coroner’s comments come days after Marie was found unresponsive by members of her family on Sunday (Dec. 26). Authorities commented on the death in a statement, saying the singer’s passing appeared to be from natural causes. Marie’s death triggered a slew of reactions from fans and entertainers. The vocalist, who was known as the “Ivory Queen of Soul,” was often sampled by various rappers. Her hits include “Square Biz,” “Lovergirl,” “Ooh La La La,” “If I Were a Bell,” “I’m Still in Love” and “Ooh Wee.” Marie’s memory will be honored on Feb. 11 during a Grammy Week event hosted by rap mogul Percy “Master P” Miller and his son Romeo. The event, which will be held in Los Angeles, is designed to raise awareness of heath-related issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure and childhood obesity.
