AHH Stray News: Ice-T Performs At Sundance, Snoop Cancels European Tour, D12 Misses Australian Date

ICE-T, CHUCK D. AND GRANDMASTER CAZ UNITE, SNOOP CANCELS TOUR, D12 MISSES SHOW IN AUSTRALIA!

(AllHipHop News) Ice-T, Chuck D and Grandmaster Caz will be the first Hip-Hop artists to perform at Sundance Institute’s annual Celebration of Music in Film. Billboard reports that the trio’s performance is in honor of Ice-T’s documentary “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap,” which was co-directed by Andy Baybutt. Ice’s film focuses on the craft of rapping and includes cameos from Afrika Bambaataa, Nas, Mos Def, Eminem, KRS-One, Run-DMC, Dr. Dre, and numerous others. The legendary artists’ performance will mark the first time rappers have hit the stage at the Celebration of Music in Film, which has featured a variety of other Rock & Roll artists. The performance will take place on January 21 in Park City, Utah.

Representatives for an upcoming show featuring Snoop Dogg in the United Kingdom have revealed that the rap star has canceled his entire European tour. Snoop had been tapped to perform at the 2012 Snow Bombing Festival, but the rapper cancelled at the last minute. “We are extremely disappointed but we are now working around the clock to replace him. We will have an update for you soon,” organizers said in a press release. While it has not been confirmed, reports suggest that Snoop Dogg canceled his European tour after his recent arrest in West Texas, for possession of marijuana. Snoop was banned from the UK in May of 2006, after his entourage brawled with security in the airport. The ban was overturned in April of 2008, when security footage was released that showed airport security as the aggressors in the incident. Other acts to perform during the 2012 Snow Bombing Festival include DJ Shadow, Fatboy Slim, The Vaccines and Zane Lowe. The 2012 Snow Bombing Festival will take place from April 9-14.

Fans of the group D12 were disappointed when the rap group missed a highly anticipated show in Australia. The rappers were supposed to perform at Heatwave, a three-day camping festival in Middleton. According to local reports, D12 somehow missed their flights to Australia. Organizers were scrambling to get the group to Middleton to perform tonight (January 14), to minimize the damage for angry fans. Rapper Kid Cudi is supposed to hit the stage Sunday (January 15). The news of D12 missing their flights comes on the heels of a scathing article that was critical of US Hip-Hop artists and their business dealings in Australia.
