Warner Bros. traveled far and wide to find their next rap star-in-the-making. And they found him in the enthusiastic XV, an MC who hails from – of all places – Kansas.

Yes, there are Black people in Kansas, XV wants you to know from the start. The Midwestern states are filled with them; in fact, enough that promoters staked their claims on XV for the recent “Midwest State of Mind Tour.” There, along with his roadies, he can seen wearing Halloween masks (when it’s nowhere near Halloween) and crowd-jumping with the best of the young, rap set.

AllHipHop.com caught up with XV recently to hear more about his tour and his plans to wow the crowds in the coming weeks and months. Check the interview below:

And, yes, the XV stands for the Roman numeral for 15, and he wants you to be curious about what that stands for. It’s the age he began his quest for music stardom, and a reminder to him daily that at 26, he still has years ahead of him. In the meantime, catch XV at SXSW next week during The Warner Sound Showcase on Thursday, March 15, where he’ll be in good company with artists like T.I., B.o.B., Wale, Meek Mill, Stalley, Curren$y, Kirko Bangz, Snow Tha Product, and DJ Drama.
