(AllHipHop News) Rapper Doug E. Fresh will open his Harlem restaurant tonight (June 25), in an attempt to educate the Hip-Hop community about their rights as voters, in the upcoming election.

Doug E. Fresh and U.T.F.O member Kangol Kid will gather at Doug E. Fresh’s Chicken & Waffles, to educate voters about their rights in the upcoming election.

The rally is being supported by Democratic Congressional Candidate and former Bill Clinton Advisor Clyde Williams.

“There are so many people in my community who don’t even bother to register because they don’t think their vote will make a difference,” Doug E. Fresh said. “I think we, as celebrities, have an obligation to change that mindset. We want to show the world that Hip Hop has a voice, and our vote does count.”

The rally, which will be free and open to the public will take place from 6-8:00pm.

“On the eve of Tuesday’s primary election, I feel it is more important than ever for voters, young and old to be encouraged to get out and exercise their right to vote,” added Clyde Williams, a candidate for the 13th Congressional District, which includes Harlem.

“Harlem is in a pivotal place right now,” Williams added. “For the first time in 40-years, the top leadership could change, and the people should have a say in that change by voting.”
