(AllHipHop News) Rapper Pitbull is heading to Kodiak, Alaska, thanks to a Walmart promotion with Sheets Energy Strips. Pitbull agreed to visit the Walmart that received the most “Likes” on it’s Facebook page. Kodiak ended up receiving 70,000 likes, in spite of the fact that the actual city has a population of 6,100. Now, Pitbull will visit Alaska, a.k.a. “The Last Frontier.” “I heard that Kodiak, Alaska, has the most likes due someone who thinks he was playing a prank,” Pitbull said in a new YouTube video. “I said ‘Okay, great this sounds really good. You have to understand I will go anywhere in the world for my fans.” Pitbull is expected to spend time in the community and meet with Walmart employees. A date has yet to be scheduled.
Meek Mill appeared on BET’s video countdown show “106 & Park” last night, to debut the video for his controversial single “Amen,” which features Drake. Meek, who was involved in a bitter feud with Philadelphia Pastor Jomo K. Johnson over the song’s content, apologized for the track if anyone is offended.
“People find all types of stuff offensive. I don’t think no preacher or no church approves of any type of rap music – because rap music is a lot of bad stuff said,” Meek reasoned. “But at the end of the day, it’s real life. And me I wasn’t trying to disrespect no religion or anything like that. My whole family is Christian.” According to Pastor Johnson, he has ended a call to boycott Meek Mill and his music.
Rapper Lupe Fiasco paid a visit to an Indian reservation in South Dakota over the weekend. Lupe visited the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation on Sunday (July 15), which is referenced on his upcoming album Food and Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album. Lupe visited White Clay, an area on the reservation which has been the focus of two TV specials in recent months. Lupe was amazed at White Clay, which has an official population of about 12 people, but still managed to sell 6 million cans of beer, in one year. Alcoholism is a serious problem on the reservation and has resulted in several lawsuits against alcohol retailers, in addition to a ban on liquor in the area. Lupe recently released the official video for his single “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free).”
