Kendrick Lamar, James Harden & J. Cole Help Students "Get Schooled"

Get Schooled Recruits Stars To Encourage High School Graduation

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop artist Kendrick Lamar and NBA player James Harden traveled to Alaska to speak with students at Bethel Regional High School. Bethel High was rewarded with the visit from the two stars for winning a high school graduation competition sponsored by the Get Schooled Foundation, Taco Bell, and Viacommunity. The Alaskan school beat out 324 other schools across the nation with a 100% participation rate.

K-Dot and Harden spoke with MTV’s Sway Colloway about their participation with Get Schooled.

“I seen the energy, obviously their energy gave me even more fuel to come out here and look them dead in their eyes and see how much more inspiration that I can give them rather than just seeing me on TV or onscreen somewhere,” said Kendrick.

Get Schooled is now offering more students who commit to graduating from high school the chance to win tickets to see J. Cole and Wale in concert. Students that sign up for the “Make The Promise” campaign from now through September 22nd are entered in the competition.

Get Schooled is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving high school graduation rates and empowering students to succeed in higher education. Other Get Schooled challenges include the “Grad 4 Más Attendance Challenge” and the “Get Schooled College Challenge.”
