Cee Lo Green Replaced By Pharrell On NBC’s “The Voice” As He Fights Ecstasy Suit

CEE LO GREEN TO BE REPLACED BY PHARRELL ON NBC’S “THE VOICE” AS HE FIGHTS ECSTASY LAWSUIT

(AllHipHop News) Pharrell could be nearing the Guinness Book of World Records for most jobs in a calendar year. Today (March 31st), it was announced that Pharrell will replace Cee Lo Green on the seventh season of The Voice.

The news comes a day after Cee Lo Green appeared in a Los Angeles court over accusations of spiking a woman’s drink with ecstasy back in July 2012. A preliminary hearing for the case is set for April 28t, near the end of season 6 of The Voice, his final season with the show.

The news was announced on the NBC show’s official Twitter account:

During an interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show this past February, Cee Lo announced he would not return to The Voice. Cee Lo did not mention his legal troubles when explaining his reason for not returning, but instead places the blame on being on the show for too long:

I’m not coming back at all. I just don’t want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I’m saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album.
